Two months ago, my daughter spent quite a lot of money on a pair of (well known brand) leather yard boots - think they were about £80. The zip has broken on one of them, and I wondered what everyone thought was a reasonable thing to do.

The tack shop where she bought them have said that they will send them back to the manufacturers and see what they say!

What does everyone think?

Think I would have them sent back - if they are a reputable brand hopefully they will replace / refund or something ! Friend of mine brought some leather yard boots, toe caps, lace up also by reputable brand (won't name but proabably guessing same make as they are very common !!) only about 3/4 month ago and the sole has just fallen off !! She was only wearing them for what they were designed for !!!

Exactly the same thing has happened (the zip) with my son's well-known brand £80 zip up yard boots and I plan to call the manufacturer/company and discuss with them. Have heard from the saddlery where we brough them that this happens all the time, though it's the first time it's happened with pairs we've had.

I've often heard it said on posts that boot zips break, kind of puts one off forking out ££££s on zippy boots doesn't it? Think I'll keep my tug-on ones for now

was wearing some famous-brand leather chaps recently, but found they were just a wee bit too snug on the old calves so went back to my knackered old riding boots for comfort's sake
