I inquired about breeding one of my mares to their APHA stallion but never heard back. Not sure what's going on there? Went there once but it was before they had the Zorse.

Think I will just stick with my stud lol.

He looks like a lovely chap but he's not going to be for your ' average ' ( and by average i mean me probably) horse owner , i should imagine he very strong ( looks like in ad photo he's got 3 head collars on??)and the ad says he can be territorial , so i guess he's still got something of the wilderness about him , i wouldn't fancy his chances in the wrong home which makes me worry that the price is well within most horse buyers pockets , especially if the fjord goes free - could be a receipe for disaster..but he's got lovely markings

Just wondering - the ad suggests he might do endurance - but are there any rules about about what you are allowed to ride on to compete in different discaplines? Could you, in theory, actually compete on a Zorse or Hebra?

I know there are quite a few dressage mules in the States, but where do the official organising bodies draw the line re: genetics?

I think - don't quote me on this as fact - that to keep a zebra one has to have a license and there are many many hoops to jump through. Not sure about a cross though...good point!

And those in your link - Wow they are big! Have no experience of mammoth donks, but have ridden many mules and loved them. Wouldn't have one, they're not my cup of tea really. A friend of mine has mini donks and they are brilliant!
 
I saw the Zorse this summer and quite a mix of other animals they had signs up offering them for sale. I kept my purse shut but they were very cute.
Love jinglejoys youtube clips we went to a mule rodeo in Wyoming lots of lovely animals all sizes and colours and very versitile.

Yes you need a Dangerous and Wild Animal Licence for a zebra but not sure for a cross either.

Depends if it is classed as a domestic hybrid or not I suppose. I have only really worked with one mule and he was the most challenging equine I have ever dealt with although poor thing had not had a good life until that point and had just spent over a year in a field on his own and completely unhandled so I expect that will have contributed. :)

For endurance, you just need an equine - it doesn't have to be a horse.

Mules are quite common in endurance in the states and the odd one crops up here too. A stud breeding mammoth donkeys has recently started bringing their donks out to organised rides over here: http://www.hamertondonkeystud.com/gallery-show/
