    Hacking/schoolmaster lessons in Ireland

I'm going away to Ireland on Friday for a week, and am looking to hopefully arrange some horse riding whilst I'm there. I'll be going to Athy and Rathconrath, can anyone recommend some places around either for some nice trekking in the Irish countryside or lessons on a schoolmaster (dressage or...

Showing classes, how many can you do?

Generally when I show I'll only do 2 classes and that takes up most of my day! Also, not sure about shows where you are but over here you're limited to a maximum number of classes per day which is usually 2 or 3 - so 5 is just not possible.

You know you're an equestrian when...

I do this as well, I only realised recently that it is not the normal way to hold bags - but doing it the 'normal' way feels wrong!

You know you're an equestrian when...

My horse can be very spooky so when I'm driving and I see something potentially scary, I expect my car to spook!

Need some advice regarding air jackets

I have a hit-air and I love it! It's very neat and lightweight, which was important for me. I mainly use it for jumping and it's great because it's so unrestrictive. I've come off once with it and landed heavily, had a concussion because I smacked my forehead but my body was absolutely fine with...

    Air jackets-worth investing in one?

I have a Hit-Air and I absolutely love it, I mainly use it for jumping and the occasional beach ride. I prefer the way it looks to the Point 2 because it's much neater, as the protection for the back of the spine and neck only pops out when the air jacket inflates. I barely notice I'm wearing it...

    Breeches for looooong legs?

Hi all, I'm looking to get a couple of new pairs of full seat breeches, I have an inside leg of roughly 34" so they need to be super long in regular size or come in long. I have some Ariat Olympias which are ok but I felt that to be able to actually bend my knee I had to go up a size - which...

Tell me I don't need a dressage saddle...

It seems you have a very accurate username, I don't think I would be able to do that!!

Tell me I don't need a dressage saddle...

Thank you everyone for all of your replies (and thank you Leo Walker for the photos!!) Although I know I don't NEED one, I just wonder if one would help so much that it would be worth it. I might avoid riding in one just so that I can't know what it's like. There's also the element of dressing...

Tell me I don't need a dressage saddle...

The saddle isn't great but it's better than his old saddle as I do have more room, and now I'm used to it I'm more comfortable because I'm not cramped like I was in the gp. I school much more often than I jump, so it would get plenty of use but at the same time it keeps going back to the fact...

Tell me I don't need a dressage saddle...

I'll give it a go with longer stirrups, although I worry that that may make me more unstable because I'll have no block and little knee roll. Certainly we can get by with the jumping saddle as he's very comfortable in it, I think I just started to think 'oh maybe we could do with a dressage...

    new stirrup design

Rich people who like to have all the new stuff :) And I suppose the safety aspect is appealing (if you can swallow that price tag), but personally I'm not a fan of how they look!

Tell me I don't need a dressage saddle...

I don't think I would find a better fitting jump saddle without going custom again, I had it made specially and it's an 18" with +4 flaps (I'm very tall, super long legs) - although it was disappointing at first that it wasn't perfect, I'm used to it now. I think it looks worse to me from above...

I went to my first show in years today!

That's great news, congratulations! Seems like it couldn't have gone better :)

Tell me I don't need a dressage saddle...

I was talking to my instructor a couple of lessons ago and she mentioned that a dressage saddle could help us, we're currently doing Prelim with the aim to move up to Novice in summer (and hopefully eventually be working at home at Elementary). I currently have a Prestige Paris jumping saddle...
