Yes, one of mine has just come off steroids after experiencing an asthma attack. But if there is something that can help him before that point, that would be great. I know, lots of different opinions and it seems it’s rather dependent on the individual horse.
Two of my four horses are struggling with all this dry weather and the consequent higher exposure to allergens. This results in them wheezing. I have guidance from my vet and have treatment options if it gets worse etc but wondered if anyone had any further tips to manage and prevent it...
i think the same, just wondering how to help him as the hot days make it worse so I don't want to increase the heat with a fly rug. I'm using a homemade citronella fly spray but it's just not keeping the horseflies away, anything you can suggest?
My welsh mountain is feed on just grass at the moment, with little hay and is in a paddock he has been in for 10 years and unfortunately in the last week hives have come up on his shoulders and lower neck. They are worst during the day, less in the morning. Not itching or destressed in anyway...
My pony has done the same in the last week. I don't know what it is as we have not changed anything as his diet is hay, grass and water. So I am thinking a plant must have come out recently or maybe it's linked to the horse flies and the heat? Haven't spoken to the vet yet, but just seeing if...
My welsh mountain pony has in the last week come up in hives which are less in the morning, and increased throughout the day. I have not seen him without them in the past week.
The obvious solution would be a fly rug, however I worry it is increased by heat, therefore the rug wouldn't help...
Unfortunately, my horse has an odd shaped head where he requires a full noseband and browband, and a cob cheekpiece.
Can anyone recommend me a company, tack shop or website which would allow me to buy these parts separately to form one bridle?
My budget is £100.
Thank you,
Ros
The grass in the field this time of year is not going to have enough nutrients etc to keep his weight no matter how much they eat. Mine are out 24/7 and I have to give hay and a feed still so don't worry about that. When he is turnout, is the field flat or hilly? Is there the option for a more...
Hello,
i have some mucker wellies which are in fab condition however gives me horrendous blisters since the lining has worn down. So I was wondering is there a way this can be resolved?
Or what wellies/yard boots would you recommend for a rider which has to wade through mud that can be max...
I only clip two of my horses (and not the other two) because their coat is so thick at times they will literally stand in the field just sweating and overheating especially in the spring when they are malting. Although the other two sweat in work, a quick sponge always sorts it out so have never...
I have recently rented out some clippers (heavy duty, Wolseley) which has left me wanting to invest in my own clippers. i would require heavy duty, not too bother on looks etc just want something which is easily maintained and does the job easily and well with ability to clip multiple horses in...
