How do you act round him? Are you anticipating him to act that way, or are you nervous yourself? Some horses act very differently round different people.
All I'm saying is that on top of being on an unfamiliar horse, most likely used to being ridden in a much different style to how the athlete rides, and very few of them being natural horse people- they have just done a swim and done fencing matches. They must all be knackered.
Ditto HeatherAnn, not all mares are stroppy madams, I know plenty of geldings who are far more difficult than many mares I know. You just have to find the right one for you.
ETA, didn't see your post! Though unless you've young colts there's nothing to say a mare can't go out with geldings
I bought one! Though it would depend on the reasons why if I were to again. Mine had never been taught to jump and has a cracking one on her as it turns out. She did travel to us under sedation and have had no need to travel again as where we are has local shows. However we're moving her next...
Its always great fun watching an argument pan out obviously ;) , but I mainly come on to find advice or opinions. I don't really know many horsey people as I had always kept myself to myself at current yard, so its nice having somewhere where I can talk to people with a common interest.
