Just read on COTH that a lot of these Pentathaletes only ride twice a month :O No wonder they look so ropey.

& to think some say the grand national is cruel!!!! These horses are so honest

are you for real? There are horses all over the country being ridden like this, or much worse in riding schools everywhere -its hardly cruel its just their job to put up with bad riders!

Full marks to these horses! They are putting up with so much for the most part. I don't blame some of them for taking the micky though lol!

But they aren't burying horses that know their jobs and are trying their best under 1m20 fences! If they are aware of their limitations, only expecting the horses to perform as well as they (the rider) is capable of and aren't hauling around big tracks on quality, sensitive horses then its not so tight or unsafe as this.

I see on the MP sign/logo thing they are jumping naked and tackless (and hatless) - I wonder if this is the way forward?? Horses' mouths would be safe anyway

I must be naive to riding schools.
I can not imagine riding shool owners would let such bad incometent riders jump a 1.20m course
Blimey no wonder they all moan about how much their public liability insurance is!!!!

Something I noticed yesterday was a lack of pats for the horses after each round - was very disappointing

I watched the Mens yesterday and spent the entire time yelling at the TV for the riders to let their horses heads go and ride forward - my OH was most amused - recording this so will watch it when I get home

The ones I have seen have mostly had the opposite problem.. horses getting faster as they go round!
