    Field shelter

Hi :) After a bit of advice as the winter is drawing in... I recently bought my horse a field shelter to help with the summer heat and I know it's going to be invaluable in the winter too! I was wondering what everyone does for bases? It will be my first winter at this yard and you can never...

    Bedding and hay troubles

I am so bored of winter! :p This year is the first year I've had to stable (after three years of free access to a field shelter, which I am sorely missing :( ) and to make matters worse the fields are under water so even if the beast wanted to go out she can't :( So long story short, she's...

    Age old question....joint supplements!

Another vote for suppleaze gold :) my girl has had joint issues all her life and it keeps her ticking along very nicely :)

    Wet legs and stable boots...

I hadn't thought about the bands... I'll have a look at them :) If you could find out what they are that would be amazing, thank you!

    Wet legs and stable boots...

I did have a look at them, always wanted some any way! :p would I have to hose her legs to put them on or could I use them to dry the mud and brush it off after? :/

    Wet legs and stable boots...

My horse is moving yards in the next few weeks, just in time for Autumn and good ol' winter... She has had joint complaints most of her life and we've been lucky enough to have turnout all day every day up until now. On the odd occasion she has been in she has worn her magnetic chaps and...

    Feeding advice for heavy cob

I have to disagree with this I'm afraid! I still believe my beloved fast fibre is miracle stuff :p contains a pre and pro biotic and my 550kg shire x only needs a scoop of it a day! At £9 a bag it seems to last forever, I've never seen a balanced for less than £25 :/

    Feeding advice for heavy cob

I swear by fast fibre :) you don't need to feed much at all to get the vits and mins they need, it contains linseed to help with the skin and it's very low in sugar and starch making it good for good doers :) works out a lot cheaper than a balancer too!

What to feed - mind boggled!

If it's just the vits and mins you need you could swap to fast fibre? Much like speedibeet but less sugar and starch and more vits and mins! My shire x tb only needs a scoop (dry volume) to get the recommended amounts :)

Too many supplements to choose from!!

My girl can have quite stiff/ clicky legs but it's kept at bay by Aviforms suppleaze gold :) it's really good stuff and works out reasonably cheap (mines a shire x so for your smaller pony it will go even further!). They have a whole range of joint supplements with suppleaze gold being the top...

Haynets - not all are created equal.

Another vote for Shires :p but I also love haywell nets too! They get as big as something ridiculous like 25kg! You can basically stuff a whole hay bale in most of them. They come in a range of sizes and have good small holed netting :)

How to heal a minor open puncture wound

Get yourself some Derma Gel! It's brilliant stuff, heals pretty much anything over night! I've never had to apply it for more than two days even for quite considerable punctures/ scratches/ bites and rubs!

Why does EVERYTHING have molasses in it?

Another vote for Fast Fibre! Just switched to it and it's great! No molasses, low sugar and starch and you don't need to feed all that much to give them all their daily vits and mins. Every time I've found a compete fibre feed that I think will be suitable I have to feed something ridiculous...

    Money saving tips!

One of my best buys was a broom from pound land! It's lasted amazingly well! Also round our way we have a sort of hardware shop called proper job (they basically sell everything :p) they are great for brooms, rakes, buckets, water canisters (great for taking in the trailer), torches, Yard...
