    Interim update on Thor

I don’t blame you for wanting certainty. Not knowing means constant self doubt about decisions you might need or want to make and that’s not an easy weight to carry. I hope you get some answers.

    Livery near Bristol

Yes it is very much a dressage competition yard, still no winter turnout but that doesn’t bother some people. It’s just an option for the OP to consider.

    Livery near Bristol

Hi, a few options spring to mind depending on what you’re looking for: https://www.leylandcourt.co.uk/livery - possibly not a bad location for the uni and flexible livery options https://www.apequestrian.com/ - dressage yard but a bit further out https://www.hilllivery.co.uk/...

    Horsebox rooflights stuck shut

Hi, the two roof lights on my 3.5t have managed to glue themselves shut over the winter, I couldn’t open them at all when I went to use it last week. The handles are working, it seems to be the seal that’s sticking. Any hints or tips for getting them open before I go to the expense of taking...

Hunting is in a spot of bother

Well said, I hate hunting but I agree with that. I’m not sure what the answer is for the future of those whose livelihood depends on it or for whom it’s their only reason for owning horses.

Have you tried posting on one of your local horsey Facebook groups? Probably would get a better response than on here.

Recommendations for best hacking places South West or Wales?

Try the mendip trekking centre. I’ve never been there but it’s quite well known.

    Riding after hip replacement

I had a hip replacement after my horse ejected me at speed from the saddle 🙄. I was back on at 6 weeks, I was told 3 months but decided I would be back on before that! That was nearly 2 years ago now. I’ve had a couple of falls since then (one carbon copy of what happened when I broke it...

    3.5t horseboxes - Vauxhall/ Renault v Citroen/Fiat

My old 7.5t was 7’6” and he travelled fine in it but his ears touched the roof! I think also in a 3.5t ventilation is really important and a higher roof helps with that too, plus a couple of roof vents!

    3.5t horseboxes - Vauxhall/ Renault v Citroen/Fiat

The floor standing area between the cab wall and the lockers (I had lockers instead of a beast bar) is 7ft, that’s the max you can have without the wheel arches coming into the standing area. There is then the space above the lockers for the head and neck , I can’t actually remember what that is...

    3.5t horseboxes - Vauxhall/ Renault v Citroen/Fiat

I’ve got one for my 17h warmblood. He’s got plenty of headroom and travels herringbone. I have a payload of just over one tonne and he weights 650kg so plenty left for other stuff and me of course. It’s a Vauxhall movano long wheel base with an 2.29 engine and drives really well with him on...

    3.5t box. Altering travel position?

I have had my partition arm made longer so my horse travels herringbone with his head toward the ramp side and his bum behind the drivers seat. He’s a big horse so it gives him extra length for standing and distributes the weight easily. If you have a telescopic partition arm it’s an easy job to...

    Self hire or transporter?

I had my own 7.5t that I’d driven for years, but when I bought a new horse about 2 hours away I used a transporter to bring him home. My reason for this was i would have found it really stressful, travelling a young horse i didn’t know on my own, on the motorway. It was worth every penny. I also...

Avoid Southwest Horseboxes by the way. Like the plague.

    3.5t conversions

I don’t know what your budget is but Travel Two are very reasonable whether you’re looking for a coach build or a conversion. I’m not associated with them the way, but I am a customer.
