Its difficult as if your horse goes on a magnesium based calmer and isn't lacking in mag it can have the opposite effect so maybe look for one that isn't magnesium based

I know quite a lot of yards that successfully use it - i would happily use it for all mine but none of them are hooligans so i'd say it would depend on the kind of horses you were to fence in with it
St Hippolyt grasses for the palatin range come from the lake constance area and agrobs from the Bavarian alps - but you may find a lot of the products are actually made in the same place/factory which i find interesting
