Ever get a vet you just don’t click with?

We pay the same callout fee so I think we might be with the same practice :) The equine vets have been fab so far, really can't fault them.

Ever get a vet you just don’t click with?

Yup. New yearling (who came to me pretty much unhandled, straight from the field he was born in) went over/through a dry stone wall a couple of days after he arrived. Cleaned him up but he had a flappy cut on his fetlock that needed a few stitches. The vet who turned up was one of the large...

Yep, last winter one of mine had an abscess that eventually blew out at his heel, he lost his frog and sole.

What is a 'normal' age to lose a horse?

30ish - ArabxHighland, colic 3 - TB, broken leg 21 - PBA, colic Currently have a couple of oldies, 27 and 26 (both PBAs), who were chasing my 2-year old round the field today like a pair of eejits so *fingers crossed* they're going to be with us for a while yet.

    Nodular Sarcoid Treatment

My gelding had a nodular sarcoid on his inner thigh treated with LC 3 years ago, it was tiny (about 2mm diameter) when my vet first saw it but it grew like stink so it was almost 1cm diameter by the time we started LC about 6 weeks later (delay was because Liverpool had run out of LC). He had...

Can poor immune system /vit e deficiency contribute to thrush

The reaction to insect bites and scratches shows his immune system is working (maybe a bit too well, I'd be wondering about hypersensitivity if there's a lot of swelling/oozing). But it's not depressed. Why are you feeding echinacea? Why did he have a vitamin e deficiency last year, was his...

    Wellies????

I only wear mine on the yard so light use and I look after them. Last two pairs of Hunters only lasted 6 months(ish), both pairs perished at the ankles. Le Chameaus fell to bits within 3 months. The Muck boots I bought last winter and have barely worn have just split at the back of the ankles.
