Firstly congratulations, and you will have a fabulous time. I wouldn't worry too much about the midges, if its breezy they won't bother you. I personally would be more worried about ticks. They are really bad this year, especially after such a mild wet winter.
I use Clinic - its cheaper than Roundup, and does a great job. Its 20ml/litre water. I use it round the yard, menage, around trees and find 2 treatments per spring/summer do the trick.
Another vote for Supreme Products white paste. Its brilliant, and we've used it for years. Its the only thing I'd use having tried virtually everything else. Being a paste, you don't waste it as you do with powder.
Definately don't try bleach.
Good luck.
The ads are irritating, and all geared to the punter. Claire is brilliant, she has lost a lot of weight - hope she is ok after her cancer scare of a few years ago.
Dishi Rishi does a good job, and I enjoy Mick Fitz's down to earth comments. The others tend to over analyise everything, with...
Another vote for Bossy Bibs. I have found if you wash bib regularly it avoids grease build up, and bib then slides across shoulders rather than rubbing.
" Stunning looks " and " perfect in every way " !! They all have a fault. If I phone up about a horse for sale, I'll often ask what his/her worst fault is. There's usually silence at the other end, while they weight it up !!
Firstly congratulations on your twins, thats very special.
Secondly a friend of mine started up a rug wash/repair service. She was a full time postie but horsey too, so knew all about rug types, etc etc.
Her business has gone from strength to strength and she has just invested in another...
Hi, I assume your horse has been wormed too ? My daughters TB was a hat rack when we bought him a year ago. We struggled to put weight on him, but have found Baileys stud balancer has worked a treat. The protein content is high but doesn't add fizz. He also gets alpha oil, sugar beet and...
Yes, ditto jakkibag, Lesmore Stud, are standing Andorn this year, lovely TB stallion. And Craigmancie stud (less than 2 miles from Lesmore Stud) have a good choice of stallions. Both do AI as well. Well worth a look. Think you will find them on facebook too. Good luck, hope you find suitable...
Yes, its been such a long dark muddy winter. The past month has been the worst, relentless rain, mud, and lack of sunshine. Am beginning to think we would be better off with minus 10C and snow, at least everything would be dry and clean !! We have 4 horses with mud fever, luckily no flooding...
I'd be very careful eliminating all their hay and just feeding straw. Colic would be a big worry especially if the weather was to turn colder and they get impaction colic and don't drink enough water. How about mixing some straw with their hay rations in their haynets. They would really have...
Yip - I have just the same problem, and as their manes finally grow out by November time, its time to put their neck rugs back on ! And its always the same couple of inches that fall out. Usually the part of mane you want your best plaits and thats most visible to a judge !
I find that using...
