What do you wear to ride in?

I normally live in old trackie bottoms and my muck boots so i ride in these too. Occaisionally if i am making an effort for a long hack/lesson or I am having a thin day I will wear my breeches and long boots which I must admit are comfier. I don't like the thought of riding in jeans...

What to ask * never been in a stiuation like this*

I was in a similar situation many years ago when I applied for a job in Norfolk, I was living at my parents in Lancashire at the time. We agreed that I would have an extended interview over a weekend, my parents took me down (I didn't drive at the time) and stayed with a relative who lived...

Breed a foal or buy a youngster?

Fools breed horses for wise men to buy.............! If you are after a certain type then buy, you can't guarantee what you are going to get (if anything), if you breed.

    Is it normal?

Thanks for that blackhorses, mine sounds just like yours, he comes in strutting his stuff and shouting at the 2 stallions on the yard. I think he thinks he could take them both on at once! I do plan to wean him at 6 months though.

    Is it normal?

For a 3 1/2 month old colt foal to be covering a mare in the field?? Up until tonight I have seen him display typical coltish behaviour, mounting his dam sideways on, chatting up other mares in the herd, nipping etc. However, tonight when I was calling him and his dam in, he was over the other...

News article about trailer turning over

I agree with you all. Even though they may have just been trying to explain, the wording does sound as though they are having a dig. I too would always have a partion in when travelling 1 horse or pony, it gives them something to brace themselves against. It is also a very valid point that...

how much do you ride in winter?

Not as often as I would like! I have a a foal that needs a lot of work and a mare due to pop in february, not to mention a OH who wants some of my time, a house to prepare for sale and a wedding to plan!!! Needless to say riding has been put on the back burner for now. I have advertised...

Unexpected Arrival of Foal - registration ?

I don't know much about sport horse breeding but with ponies, you wouldn't be able to register her with her real dad as the sire. However, again, with ponies, this wouldn't stop you breeding from her in the future.

    Horse Vacuming?

I had to vacum all the polo ponies when I worked on a polo yard in america! If the saddle cloths were dirty after he had ridden I got told off because I mustn't have vacumed them well enough before hand..........!

Due to having a weanling who I am showing over winter and next year, a mare due to have her second foal in feb, looking for a new house and planning a wedding I am not going to have much time to ride my 5 year old over the winter. I am considering advertising for some one to come and ride her a...
