    Diastema in young horses?

Hi all, My yearling (will be 2 this year) cob gelding recently saw the dentist for the first time and she discovered several diastema’s between his premolars on his lower jaw. Naturally I came home slightly panicked and googled what I could about diastema’s although pretty much all the info I...

Hair loss and dandruff along neck??

Had a google and don’t think it’s neck threadworms, but having slept on it I’m leaning towards it being a vits&mins thing since the problem seemed to coincide with the new hay we got. He’s the hardest keeper out of my four so makes sense he’d be first to show any signs of a deficiency, poor lad!

Hair loss and dandruff along neck??

Hi all, might be a bit of a long one I’m afraid. *I’ll preface this with saying I’ll be contacting the vet tomorrow morning* I’ve got a wee almost 15 year old, partbred welsh gelding that over the past week or two has developed lots of dandruff along the top of his back and rump, and around...

    Spraying Country Boots Before Wearing?

Hi all, I haven’t had a pair of country boots in yeeeears but was given some Dublin boots my birthday yesterday, and now can’t remember if I need to spray them with a water-proofer/sealant/protector before I can wear them? I remember something about my mum spraying here before she ever wore them...

    Blade wash alternatives?

I've always been taught that whilst clipping you must dip the blade teeth in blade wash to stop dirt and hair from building up 😬

    Blade wash alternatives?

Hello all, Any blade wash alternatives? Have read on a few pages about people using Rubbing alcohol but none of the shops, chemists, DIY shops have even heard of the stuff. Have read on a few pages about people using just water and dish soap? Have also heard of people using Kerosene but am...

    Muck out once a day

Mine just get mucked out once a day, regardless of time and have never had a problem. Some days I'll go up at 11am and they'll get mucked out at 4pm the next day. Never had any issues!

The steel stirrups should be fine! 😄 Have heard of the Amidale stirrups snapping before so I personally would avoid.

    Speedi-Beet!

Hello all, I bought some Speedi-Beet for the first time today and will be feeding it to my 12.2hh colt for the first time tomorrow. Thing is, how much does everyone use of it dry before soaking? I'm terrified of mistakenly making buckets of the stuff as I've never used speedi beet before...

Best chaff/bulky feed to encourage weight gain?

He was he was on two scoops of feed with last owner, just not sure what sort of feed it was. Have gradually been building up his feed as I didn't want to dump it all on him suddenly and possibly cause colic. He hasn't had much apple mollichaff as it isn't that nutritional so there was no point...
