I use a round bale for 1 pony and 1 horse every 10 days at £40 bale (I win the depressing prize of most expensive hay here in herts) and as they live out on a hardcore yard area with the stables open in winter I use very little in shavings, maybe one bale every 2 weeks at £8 bale. Feedwise pony...
This is so timely to find this post as I dont come on here all that often but Im facing the same with my girl, she is only 5 and so special to me but has a tumor and is in increasingly getting worse. But she looks absolutely amazing and was going so well until this started recently, I know I...
I had a lovely encounter with a cyclist who was veering all over the road from side to side coming towards me in the car, I beeped him as I was worried he hadnt seen me and I didnt want an accident so he screamed as loud as he could f*** off, delightful man! Unfortunately most of my experiences...
I have had the same problem with my spanish mare and the key with her was to introduce collection and raised trotting poles so she learnt to lift through the shoulder then she learnt to reach out in the mediums, good luck
Wonderful thank you, I was worried the car would be too small to tow with but it looks like with a lightweight trailer and my lightweight mare I can still tow safely without having to have such a huge car with high running costs :-)
Hi, I currently tow a bateson derby with a lightweight 15hh in with my jeep cherokee but due to the safety recall Im having to replace it. I spoke to bateson who said the trailer weighs 675kg so I could get it downplated to 1200kg to carry my one lightweight mare. I have been looking at smaller...
My mare was jumping me right out the saddle as I was taught to sit deep into a jump and I kept ending up on her neck :-) until I had a jump lesson with an eventer who put my stirrups up another 8 holes and made me to ride in a light seat and treat the jump as just another canter stride, problem...
Wow and I thought I was mixing with the bigboys yesterday at classic dressage with the pros and all the DHI horses, you have definitely took it up a level well done !!!!
Amazing !!! We just completed our first affiliated elem test yesterday so this is great to see as I think Ive said before I see so many similarities between your girl and my little pre mare :-)
So from what you say I'll be looking at a 6" or 6.25" bridoon and then a 5.25" or 5" weymouth - but doesn't it seem a bit mad to have a 1" difference?!
That does seem a bit crazy as mine are the same size (both 5") and I think you normally only go down a half or quarter inch to the weymouth...
From looking at those pics I would say go up at least a 1/4 inch minimum on the snaffle and down about 1/2 inch on the weymouth, you can tell I've just been fitting one on my mare with lots of help from more knowledgable friends on the yard !!!
