Cleveland Bays and Cleveland bay X's - tell me about them please!

I've had three pure breds, two of which I still have. They have a reputation for being stubborn, but from my experience, with good training and consistent handling, they are no more difficult than any other breed. As with all breeds, there are good ones and there are bad ones, but for some...

    Summer Shirts

I really like the LeMieux polo tops in the summer as they're lightweight and really comfortable.

Bits.. Any ideas for something decorative?

The cafe at the tack shop near me has used old straight bar snaffles as door handles.

    Second seizure

An old dog of mine was diagnosed with epilepsy. He started having seizures when he was around four or so. They came totally out the blue, he'd never had any medical problems before and nothing had changed around the time they started. He ended up on some kind of tablet-based medication and it...

    Irish Draught vs Cleveland Bay

I'd have to go with a CB but then I'm biased - I have two of them already, one a home bred. I find them lovely characters, yes they can be difficult at times, but so can any horse. Both of mine are brilliant to handle on the ground and lovely to ride. They've done hacking, showjumping, eventing...

Hate not being able to ride:(

I'm in the same situation - have my final year university exams next week so haven't ridden in a fortnight! Luckily my mum exercises mine every few days but I can't wait to get riding again! Good luck in your exams! :)

    Another idiot motorist

I don't understand what can cause a person to think that endangering the safety of an animal or a person is funny. The concerning thing is that these incidents seem to be occurring more and more frequently. It's hearing about things like this that made me buy a helmet camera, as unfortunately...

    Bit recommendations for Xc

My mare is similar and I've found a kimblewick works really well. She really respects it and I don't have to constantly fight her, just a small amount of pressure and she comes straight back :)

Hypermobility and riding- feeling a bit down

I've found it's helped with the muscle pain more than anything :)

Hypermobility and riding- feeling a bit down

I use kinesio tape across the top of my shoulders to help stabilise the joints and support the muscles. I don't do it every time i ride, only if I'm doing something that my horse is likely to find particularly exciting :p I should probably add that I only started doing it on recommendation...

Hypermobility and riding- feeling a bit down

I have HMS primarily affecting my shoulders, back, hips and knees. I managed to get a referral to a physiotherapist through my GP which has really helped. I was also recommended gentle swimming to help strengthen the muscles in the affected areas and that has helped a great deal. In regards to...

    Honest but funny sales ad

17hh Cleveland Bay mare. Occasionally likes a cuddle, but will spend most of her time pulling faces at you from across the yard. Barges through gateways and drags who ever is leading her where ever she goes. Only does things that she wants to. Any attempt to persuade her otherwise will be met...

    Hooves looking so much better

He's on topspec healthy hoof, though we think its the combination of the bar shoes providing support and the supplement improving hoof quality that have allowed normal growth. Good luck getting her sorted :)
