I know the feeling - my cob was diagnosed with exactly the same problem in 2014. Sounded horrendous and I went into meltdown but I need not have as he was only in 'Hospital' for a day and had the 3rd eyelid removed with no problems. I recently had his eye checked again and there is absolutely no...
My coloured cob gets or rather has leg mites - I have found the only way to keep on top of it is to clip his legs regularly - which is not the solution for a traditional - I did try pig oil which works for a bit but it is so difficult to get through the feathers and on to the skin so I now get...
I have to say I am surprised this thread has gone on as long as it has - everybody is entitled to their opinion without being slagged off for it and if it worked for my boy why can't I say so without having to put up with some of these comments I don't know. Nobody is enjoying this particularly...
I too have a cob who sounds a bit similar to your girl. He can be girthy and a bit sensitive to grooming on the stomach area which I used to put down to cob behaviour! I've tried Gastro Plus and he is definitely not so girthy and also his general manner seems to have changed for the better...
The jab worked for my boy as Frontline was a waste of time unless his legs were clipped - so now I just clip his legs regularly and apply pig oil which works and is cheaper but appreciate that this is not very helpful if you want to grow his feathers.
Totally agree I was always led to believe that bute does not help the situation. I have a horse with suspected gastric ulcers and I put him on Gastroplus (Equine Science). I have to say we are now coming towards the end of our 4th week and the difference in him now from the girthy I'm going to...
Yes I have heard good things about hypocare - will look out for this - I agree with you about the sudocreme/vaseline though just traps everything under it.
I gave my boy 1.5 scoops in each feed (twice a day) for a week and then just once a day after that. I noticed a difference within a week - he is not so girthy now and doesn't take huge chunks out of me or the stable door when he is being saddled up. He's just much happier and I have now...
My boy had mudfever last year for the first time so it was quite a surprise especially as I trim his legs all year round because of mites. Somebody told me to mix sulphur with pink ointment ( I think that was what it was) and that certainly seemed to work after washing legs with hibiscrub...
Hi - I have just posted this on the 'Ted thread' but then noticed yours - I just wanted to say that I can't speak highly enough that Gastro Plus (Equine Science) worked fpr my boy plus it deals with the entire gastric system not only with ulcers but anything to do with gastric issues. One...
I can't speak highly enough that Gastro Plus works and it deals with the entire gastric system not only with ulcers but anything to do with gastric issues. One month's dosing and I had my horse back where stopping using the medication the problem came back. Before it gets to the stage of pts...
PLEASE BE AWARE OF TAPE WORM!
I want to let everyone know about this dreadful worm that can hide from a full blood test and worm count. My friend's poor horse that retired from racing in France, looked dreadful when he arrived back home. She wormed him including Tape Worm and after two weeks...
I have a 15.3hh Coloured Cob and I am experiencing the problems that many of us cob owners have of getting a saddle to fit properly without it slipping. Tried so many saddles but would love to know if there is something out there that I have not yet discovered.
