Yes riding like a lemon on designer horses makes you an amazing horsewoman.
Ha shes a joke, but she is doing some good i guess getting the sport recognised.
Even if she probably has no idea hpw to muck out or tack up and would probably struggle to put a headcollar on.
My TB threw a splint, im guessing the damage was done yesterday when he had a bit of an awkward jump schooling, i didnt notice and put him out last night :( baught him in today and hes got a smallish splint on a hind, its already almost hard, slightly warm but cool after 2 minutes hosing and no...
All better :) the little numpty i ssuspect he probably fell in the field and was just a bit stiff and sore.
Thankyou for the suggestions and i will remember the biro trick!
Box_Of_Frogs, i think you are missunderstanding the situation.
How is it brutal to keep a horse free of pain!
This is a horse who is in pain much of the time, after 2 years!!!! of corrective shoeing 6 different farriers numerous vets every test under the sun periods of 3 months box rest...
My TB came in about 2/10 lame in his hind right 3 days ago, he is not lame on the strait only on a circle smaller than about 20m, there is nothing to see or feel. he was a little reluctant to pick up hs other hind.
He kept pulling it foreward whilst stood in the yard, and when he walks he...
P.S just read a case study of a grand prix showjumper that was denerved in both front feet and still showjumping!!!This scares me a bit because i assumed you wouldnt jump a horse that cant feel its feet, and surely in competition if bute is illegal (although sadly its not now) then denerving...
My TB is 15 now bright as a button and enjoying life to th full.
Half the time, the other half he is lame on both front feet and is not a happy bunny at all. He basically has **** feet. meaning he is 1-2/10 lame from when he is shod for 2-3 weeks. Therefore i cant get him fit to compete...
I think a full TB has a much better chance than a full WB making it to advanced, and especialy to CCI** + just because of the stamina, but Warmblood types are getting more and more prominant now since they got rid or roads and tracks and steeplechase.
TB...
Faster/more stamina
Cheeper as a...
My ex racer came in from the field today slightly lame 1/10 at the most on his right hind. No obvious injuries swelling or heat anywhere, I had a good test of his foot, no reaction. He is lifting it up more than the other foot when he walks which is strange, and he had sweated a lot just on that...
Thanks, yeah i will try the pole trick, have been doing that a bit already, although using slightly smaller poles is a new one i will try that! I agree the hunting is the base of his problems, if he sees hounds or hears the horn he starts to shake poor thing, i doubt he is scared on the lunge...
Yes thats what i have been trying to do, he is fine to lead and very exciteable to lunge, problem is i only have 2 months to produce something rideable on the flat :(. I think i may move him to a yard with plenty of hacking if all fails so he can just be hacked out with other horses when im not...
Hey, My auntie has recently sold her showjumpers to concentrate on young stock, and has given me her 'unsellable horse' lucky me! having said that he is super quiet to look after and has a jump to die for, never ever stopped in his life.
But, at home he will not do anything other than walk...
