    Riding after a hip replacement

Hello! Due to an old injury when i was 11 I now have arthritis in my hip and was told last year that i would need a new hip within 3-5yrs. It has got an awful lot worse the past 12 months and have finally accepted that its going to need doing sooner rather than later. However i'm only 33. I...

How many of us are truly happy at our livery yards??

Well I've been out looking today and found 2 nice yards and think I've decided on one which is the same price I pay now, bigger box, has an indoor and an outdoor, mini xc course & tons of hacking! Still within 5 mins from home and can hack to local show ground! They are having new boxes built so...

How much would it cost to ship a horse to NZ?

Some friends recently moved to Australia and were quoted £12k, however they were told that it would be around £7k inc quarantine if they could split the container with someone else. Unfortunately they couldn't find anyone to share so left the horse here where its now up for sale.

How many of us are truly happy at our livery yards??

Wow thanks for all the happiness!!:D I guess my problem is just bits of general bitchiness really, its a yard of about 50 horses so I know not everyone is going to get on but there are just 2 sets of people that I honestly feel like ripping their heads off after tonight, I'm not one for...

Ahh your all making me jealous now!! Think I'm doing the right thing having a look around then, it's just making me not want to spend as much time there as can't be doing with some of the people/politics and although my boy is happy, I'm not which I guess will start having a knock on effect to...

How many of us are truly happy at our livery yards??

As above really!! I know there is never going to be a perfect yard and there are always little niggles but just starting feel that those little niggles are turning into a huge one now! Going to look at other yards this weekend, part of me is just thinking I should shut up and get on with it...

Green 10 year old... What would you do??

Ive got a green 11yr old ISH that I've schooled myself as personally I find it's more rewarding and you get them exactly how you want them and know how they are being treated. I'd definatly start off with lunging and I prefer the pessoa over side reins but only use it for short amounts of time...

Pawing problem getting dangerous - any advice

My 17.3 h/w hunter was a horror for pawing when I first got him, but the people who I got him from used to let him get away with murder and at 800kg its just not safe to allow him to do it! For him it was all about attention seeking so even telling him off was actually still rewarding him! I've...

How do you "get on with it "

My best mate is on the same yard and as soon as I start having a dip in confidence or loss of motivation he soon shouts at me to get on with it!! So I do just for a quiet life!! If it's a schooling issue then I wait to ride later on when all the 'happy hacking experts' have gone home...

Urgent help required! Pls respond by 16 Dec 2011

Sorry but it drives me mad when people fret about new things around their horses!! You are their leader and if you are calm & reassuring to them there should be no problem, sure they may have a look at things but you can't baby them, they just have to learn to deal with it!!!

Is your partner interested in your horse??

Absolutely no interest what so ever!!!! I was in a no horse part of my life when we met and got married etc but I'd always said I wanted another someday, OH was very supportive of this as he knew I loved them, anyway once I'd bought my boy the OH has since turned into a jealous toddler!! Always...
