Best clippers for a Cushings pony??

Hiya, I need to buy a pair of clippers for my boy; and he does get a pretty solid coat. I've been looking at the Heiniger Progress clippers - would these do the job? Thanks in advance and any other recommendations would be welcome. Haven't got a huge budget, would like to not have to spend any...

Doesn't like being without friends - help!

So my old boy (24 this year - and still fit as ever!!) doesnt like being brought in and tacked up without his friends. We moved to a new yard over the winter and he has two new field buddies, making him the 3rd at the yard. He's fine to catch, bring in, lead, and has good spacial awareness...

    Mystery Lameness

My horse has gone lame in the front left leg/ shoulder, but I have no idea why - a few funny movements the day before but nothing obvious that I know of. There has never been any heat or swelling anywhere and after a vets visit they couldn't find any specific pain either. I've been told to put...

    Shoulder lameness - help!

So Max has gone lame - it happened 3 weeks ago (on Sunday) after he cantered down a steep badly paved hill (someone let him go getting him in.. Grr!). After a week off and stretching it was no better by the following sunday and hence got the vet out Tuesday. The vet couldn't find anything...

Hair loss and itching after insect bites... Help!!

So a few weeks ago on the first warm day I think we'd had, I noticed my pony had lots of bites to the extent that he was bleeding on his sheath and the whirl of hair (and hence exposed skin) just next to it. Sorry in advance I don't have pictures! The past 10 days I have noticed that the skin...

    Confusion over full livery services.

I completely agree it's all about the area and more specifically the yards in the locality. All the yards near where I am (Suffolk Essex border) that would be full/ training. If I wanted riding/ exercise as well I would have to pay a bomb more. I think that also (and here comes my degree) it's...

    Cushings before and after stories/pics

That's a relief! I figured the long hairs would fall out sooner but good to know otherwise. It's started to go on his face like mad I just hope it applies to the rest of his body as he's looking like a donkey at the moment... Will be amazing to see him looking normal again it's been so long :-(

    Cushings before and after stories/pics

I have a Cushings pony who is doing really well but STILL won't lose his hair... his facial hair is finally going but the body and legs seems to not be budging. He's on Prascend and wanted to see other peoples stories about their horses/ponies before and after treatment - whatever that treatment...

    New older horse

My cushings test was free and my vet even downloaded the voucher for me! The medication I have is £1.53 a tablet, but he has half a tablet a day so it's about £500 a yet but I think it's worth it. Cushings isn't the end of the world at all it's just better to know and to treat it. Make sure you...

    Multi-vitamin supplement recommendations

I am looking to feed my older pony a multi-vitamin general supplement, but there are quite a few out there and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? He has Cushings (and is on Prascend and is doing well - not suffering in any way) and just want to be wary of laminitis too. Thanks! :)

    New older horse

I bought a 22 year old I had loaned for a few years a couple of months ago, and I haven't looked back since! I had a 5 stage vetting by the head vet and he passed fully. Insurance wise, I haven't found any that will insure you normally when they're over about 15yo so don't stress about that...

Tips for keeping a long haired horse!!

Thank you Nudibranch :) I will definitely be getting him tested ASAP! I'm just really annoyed at the moment that no one at the yard, either of the two vets he has or his previous owner has mentioned anything... It's so blatantly obvious he's got some symptoms now I've read up on it more... Poor...

Tips for keeping a long haired horse!!

Hmm I will get him tested. I'm half and half with whether he is or not - he has always had curly hair I believe but then again that would explain his sweating somewhat. Is cushings expensive to treat out of interest? I don't know much about it you see. Thank you :)

Tips for keeping a long haired horse!!

I am 99% sure he's not got Cushings - I got him vetted by the head vet of a practice and he said he was at no more risk of cushings than any other horse his age. Do you not think sedating is a bit risky at his age? Or not? I will try and post a pic x
