Can anyone recommend some long riding boots that are skinny enough for a 12 inch calf? Size 5-6 foot and and leg measures 15.5 inches to the back of my knee. Ideally under £140! I tried the HKM Valencia kids which were too wide in the leg and too short.
My horse is currently in a loose ring with a copper lozenge, which she's fine in for hacking/schooling/jumping smaller courses. However, we're starting to jump bigger courses, and I lose a lot of control, ending up with flat jumps and bad strides so am looking for a new bit to try. She leans and...
Can anyone recommend a thin cavesson bridle (No flash or crank!) which isn't ridiculously expensive?
Also, black or havana tack for a light dapple/fleabitten grey?
My horse is currently in a loose ring snaffle with a copper lozenge, which she schools and hacks fine it. However, when it comes to jumping I lose a lot of brakes and end up having to pull a lot more than I'd like to, so I'm considering a slightly stronger bit so I can ride with a lighter hand...
I've have been taught by 4 different instructors on 3 different horses, that to get an outline you get a forward pace and then massage the rein. However, this does seem to be just pulling the head in to look pretty, and I was wondering what's the 'correct' way to get a horse to engage and round?
Chances are she just doesn't understand what's being asked of her, as some people forget halting as part of schooling. If you do get her, you would need to just practice halting and stopping (and waiting still she's still and calm) at random times and as part of schooling/hacking so she...
Go straight into the corner, halt right in the corner, wait for a few seconds. Turn, halt again and wait, then carry on. Do this for every corner, starting in walk, and build up to trot - halt if you can. After a session or two of this, mix it up with this, a small circle in each corner, and...
I own a grey, and brush in baby powder to hide the stains. (Or use a pet-grooming chalk block which works better, but doesn't last long when being used all over!) I spray a little mane&tail on her hindquarters, shoulder and neck for bit of shine, and use human hair gel to keep plaits in place or...
I've had my horse just over 2 weeks and she can be lead fine in a headcollar, but refuses to walk more than a slow step at a time in her bridle. She goes a little better if the reins are over her head, and being lead from her neck rather than her mouth. (If that makes sense!) She doesn't have a...
What do you think is the best bit to encourage a horse to accept it and relax, but still has some brakes?
My horse currently has a beval bit, but is reluctant to accept it and throws her head in the air. She is forward, especially when jumping/hacking but not hugely strong and has quite a...
