    Broken leg stories

Sorry to hear about your break. I fractured head of right femur years ago and also 2 vertebrae. I was fitted with a dynamic hip screw. I was back in the saddle 8 months later but not as brave! I was over 40 when it happened. Guess what? I broke my left femur last year and have an IM nail...

    Cute things non-horsey people say....

Urbanite now living in the countryside on hearing I'd had my horse PTS (I'd had her for 25 years): "Can you get as attached to a horse as you can to a dog?" followed by "I know nothing about horses!" I didn't really know what to say.....other than agreeing with the last statement!

DIY Livery yards in/around Bury St Edmunds

Sorry I can't help with your livery but just to say that Stowmarket is a fair way from BSE and if it's the yard I think it is, it's in quite an out-of-the-way spot! You could try going on All things horsey Suffolk or BSE FB pages. Good luck and I hope you find what you're looking for.

    Obese horses in showing

The horse is obscenely over-weight and not pleasing on the eye!! This is so hypocritical - how can an obese horse be placed, let alone win!?? It's quite shocking.

Tomorrow is his final journey :(

The right decision, but a truly difficult one! Run free dear boy. It's never, ever easy. Kind thoughts and I know just how dreadful this is. x

    Does it get better?

I lost my mare aged 29 - I'd had her since she was a 4yo. This was just over 2 years ago and it doesn't hurt quite as much, but there are moments when I get very emotional. Grief has no set time table so be kind to yourself. Treasure all those wonderful memories. I have my horse's ashes in a...

What is the deal with Bernhard Maier?

I watched this and found it shocking. However, what I don't understand is how he was allowed to continue his round - what were the stewards doing?? The riding was appalling from the word go and got worse and worse!
