    Are brown boots acceptable?

I want to treat myself to a pair of long boots. I personally love brown boots and I have always worn brown jod boots and chaps etc. But although these new boots I plan to buy will be mostly used for my general riding, I dont want to spend alot of money on a brown pair if I then can't clean...

    Sudden onset behaviour changes...ulcers?

Yes, last month, slightly higher than the cut off but since he looked so well and showed no symptoms outwardly vet was happy for him to continue on half a tab. Which he’s been on over a year now

    Sudden onset behaviour changes...ulcers?

Okay where to start... I’m sorry this may be long! So my lad is 23 years old, has PPID, in very light work 3x a week is pretty sensitive/spooky and sharp has been all his life but over the weekend he’s just taken a 360 I went to ride Saturday and I thought he was just napping because I was...

    Hacking anxiety

Hello all! A new friend has offered to come by my yard to pick me and my horse up to go for a hack in the local woods next week. I jumped at the chance as I have no transport and I thought well if I don’t say yes I won’t get offered it again! However, I haven’t travelled my horse in over 2 1/2...

He got the better of me today ...

Yes I 100% agree with you. He did not used to behave in such a way when he would get a right telling off before when he acted up. I got after him and rode him. But I’m being too soft because he’s unfit and older now.

He got the better of me today ...

Unfortunately not - they all have very placid confidence givers and I wouldn’t want to put them on something they aren’t used too

He got the better of me today ...

Because I’ve had him 7 years and these things he does never used to bother me. I was a confident teen. But I’ve been out of regular work with him for 3 years due to uni. He’s also 22 now and has cushings so I couldn’t sell him - I also doubt any confident teen is interested in loaning a...

He got the better of me today ...

Haha.. he’s an Arab cross .. and yes, if you don’t constantly keep him thinking or he tries his luck once he’ll keep doing it. Hence my vicious cycle right now I do want to just lunge him and run him dry but think I feel like I have to bring him back the correct way because of his age...

He got the better of me today ...

In a perfect world I do want this :) However .. without disrespect to my wonderful YO she isn’t a highly qualified instructor so to speak and I don’t really think I would get all those benefits you mentioned. She’s cheaper than an instructor that would be able to come to me and offer...

    What to ask vet...

I agree with thinking about EMS. Also all those issues you talk about relating to his sheath were the reasons I asked my vet to testing for PPID which came back positive for me

Why do so many people own/ride horses they dont enjoy?

I’ve lost confidence with my riding and I’ll admit that But, I keep going for many reasons 1) it didn’t always used to be this way. Once I was confident, decent little rider, but time out of the saddle and I’ve lost it 2) my pony is 22 and has cushings - I couldn’t possibly sell him...

He got the better of me today ...

Yes a bridle, lunge line clipped through the bit. He hates it’s over his poll. My YO previously lunged him once a week (back when I was riding regularly) in a Pessoa but again, since he’s unfit we aren’t doing that yet Yes I have my mum on her free nights but she not really horsey...
