Thanks all. I really appreciate all your input. It's interesting that the majority view is PTS. I don't think I expected that but then I think I'm too involved to see it clearly.
According to the vet (senior partner at v large well respected equine hospital) it is not wobblers but another...
Bit of a long story I'm afraid but I'd welcome any thoughts anyone has to offer please as I just don't know what to do.
I have a 14.2hh connie who's about 9. I bought him three years ago after I lost my nerve. He's whizzy and good fun and I got my nerve back but he never seemed quite right...
In some bits of the country it is sadly the norm but looking at your location you should be able to find somewhere. I moved from the London side of Essex to Kent to get good turnout. Some big yards round my way do limit turnout but plenty of smaller private yards dont't. I did a year with...
Although hard to find a nice horse at that height. I wanted one in that range and looked for over six months before giving up amd getting a bigger one!
Having just bought a horse i really wouldnt expect it to be cheaper just because it is forward going and needs a competent rider. Id'have said that is a decent horse. Under 10 and done a bit of everything unaffiliated without major issues I would think at least 5k
I quite like the Le Miuex ones too, but once I'd figured out the Mattes website they're so pretty, loads of colours and you can choose your bindings etc :)
Ah ha, Mattes - marvellous - thank you! I looked at those but couldn't see clips on them, but now I've found the Saddlefix thingy on their website - looks like you buy the saddle cloth and saddlefix separately. Any one tried them IRL?
My saddler told me today about some lovely but pricey saddle cloths that sort of clip to the saddle to keep them up in the gullet and stop them slipping down. Of course I can't now remember for the life of me what she said they were called, and she's always hard to get on the phone so does...
Hayley's number is on their website :) http://www.bourningwoodstud.co.uk/Livery%20Yard.html
I would recommend giving Hayley a call in advance as she isn't always around at the weekend
Lovely yard. I was there for about six months in 2012 I think? I only left because the travel was too much (hour and twenty each way), not because of the yard. Exceptionally good turnout for the area (my gelding lived out for the summer months and had all day turnout in the winter ones). Nice...
I'm sorry you're having to face this this awful decision.
In your position I would call it a day sooner rather than later. There are lots of conditons that currently cause him pain, discomfort or serious annoyance, and sadly that will only get worse. Whilst he may still enjoy elements of his...
my trainer (who's a BD judge so hopefully knows what she's talking about) was telling me the other day that she actually prefers show saddles to the modern dressage saddles with deep seats and big blocks. She says she would happily have one instead of a GP too
thanks all :) Sadly it looks like the consensus is it probably is easier. Decisions decisions.... I do hate having my legs put in position by blocks, but then again I'd hate to hit the ground too!
The frustrating thing is that I may well be able to sit his antics without them - I just don't...
