Forgot to say that it has been checked around eight months ago, and cair panels were redone by bates. It doesn't appear to touch the withers when I am riding, but as the rub is worse now I can't see what else could be causing it. Thanks NLP :) , I was the one riding when the saddle fitter was...
Recently I have noticed a rub on my horses withers, and assumed it was his rug. However after riding yesterday the rubbed area has come up in a hard lump and is currently rubbed almost raw. He is a 16hh bwp and is seventeen this year. He is currently wearing a 17 1/2 inch bates Caprilli with a...

Hi,
I recently went to Clyde Valley for a second opinion on my horse lameness which has been ongoing for 7 months and found them very professional and helpful....plus they pinpointed what needed to be MRI'd and sorted that out asap. Definitely reccommend!
Thanks so much to all of you who have posted.. when my daughter and i were up at the yard earlier we watched one of the other horses trying to get ours to "play" in the field and he is going short even at walk and clearly lame in trot (which he was very reluctant to do). Back in January when we...

Thanks Leviathan,
He has been shod by our usual farriers ,their senior partner doing his forefeet personally since he went lame. The corrective trimming and changing to heartbars only made a change for the worse! It sounds mad but his feet are good at least from the outside. All shoes were...
Hi,
The final results came through and showed all of the foregoing plus a few other comments such as navicular bone modelling and fibrocartilage erosion. This is just in left fore and all 3 vets involved so far say it will almost certainly be a bilateral forelimb lameness.
I have spent so...
Hi,
Our horse had an MRI left fore 2 weeks ago and we were told the cost upfront..£650 for that one hoof. Had the option to do both but found plenty just in that one...not good news.
On the insurance front I couldn't see anything on the policy which excludes MRI and I advised E&L that the...

Thanks so much for your comments...I had read up on all the possibilities that might show up on the MRI, which couldn't be seen on the xrays( 4 separate occasions) but the combination of problems is still a shock particularly as he has never been very lame..1/2 of 10 at worst.

Hi,
Don't know if this will help but the horse we have had very recently seems to have a similar problem and was rubbing his tail in the stable. Have him in a fly rug with tailflap and have been using MSM cream for about a week and it has made a real improvement!!!!!!
Worth a try!
