I’m pretty lacking in emotions generally but I’d have given the kid a hug and loaded my pony back up and gone home. I wouldn’t have wanted a lesson at all in those circumstances. I can’t imagine most horses work well with a dead horse sharing the arena with them.
@SEL totally agree on homozygous / night blind spotted horses. I wouldn't breed them and advised against them for jobs such as junior eventers - which was not a popular opinion. :-p

Keep the pony! I absolutely adore mine and he now lives on grass livery and is described by the other liveries as the happiest pony ever but it took me moving him from a yard where I was happy but he wasn’t to get to this point.
