Im thinking about moving my horse closer to me, but looking for the right yard and not knowing where to start having not lived in the area for long. Im also now working in Usk so somewhere in between would work.
Must haves:
Stable
Turn out all year or a horse walker (alternating turn...
I had more than one double take and some confused looking drivers, I think one man crossed to road early to stay away from the crazy girl who is obviously doing horse ownership all wrong :D :D
Maybe he thought I was on hospital day release... Or worse I'd escaped.
It turns out, as I thought originally that the pony just has a slight sprain on her tendon from a kick (and possibly twisting to get out of the way - or knowing her kick back :o )
The bloods came back clear so no virus or infection, hurrah, I think she was a bit tender despite only being...
Well I called the swelling has gone down today (although still not quite normal) I called the vet and spoke to them over the phone, it's not my practice on call but another local one, so I have my vets coming tomorrow.
Mongoose of course I'm not saying I would wait until she's not eating to...
I am getting the vet out, the problem is the lack of grumpiness though, shes usually a typical grouchy mare. The only reason I haven't had them out yet is because I had assumed it was a minor tweak (swelling isn't that bad and initially she was fine personality wise and her usual grumpy self)...
My mate has had a swollen hock since about Tuesday, looks like it's from a kick and or a possible strain from twisting, the swelling isn't too bad and it has gone down a bit since.
She is in during the day and out at night, so I have been cold hosing twice a day (not that I think it's...
I didn't get my mate vetted, but I knew my mare, was friends with her old owner and breeder, and know all of her history. Anything else I would always have a 5* vet done regardless of the price of the horse
Go buy a gullet and change it yourself. Or ride bareback if you can't work an Allen key!
Oh and stop moaning!
it's bank holiday for goodnes sake, saddle fitters have lives too! My old saddle fitter usually has an 8 week wait (I moved area :( ), I dealt with it because she was worth her...
Best thing: she will try her heart out for me when I ask her to do something, especially jumping which she loves.
Worst thing: she can be a sod with other horses in the field - usually only wheb they're in her face (grumpy mares )
To me my horse is the perfect horse, for me. She's a mare (I prefer mares as a general rule, but wouldn't rule geldings out), she'll work really well in the school, and is a careful jumper and loves showjumping.
However what's perfect for me wouldn't be perfect for someone else, she's not keen...
Personally I'd expect him to be hopping lame after 4 days with no puss coming out if it's an abscess, as such I'd suspect a bruise. Is there another good farrier you can get to take a look that comes to the yard? I understand not not wanting the veg to dig out, going by past experience they...
