Does your livery stable limit who you can get lessons from?

I part loaned at a yard where the YO (completely unhorsey-didn't know what someone meant when they said hoof..) completely refused to allow any instructor on the yard. Reason? 'Why should anyone else make money off my business?' 😂

Hacking for young horses - lancs

I'm not sure on trailer parking but I am sure there are places to do so in towneley park. There's lots of car parks and I always see horses! I know of northcote, that road is horrific. I used to have to ride along it to get 15 mins of off-road hacking 😔 Ask your stable neighbours or...

Hacking for young horses - lancs

Hi, fellow lancs here, although I'm in Accrington. We go round the local bridleways and have a bit of moorland across the road. The Mary Towneley Loop is always a good one if you have transport? There's about 500 miles of bridlepaths if I'm not mistaken?

When a hack just makes everything better!

D'you know I was really nervous about posting on here in case nobody replied or I got nasty comments, but it's so nice to hear everybody else had lovely days with theirs too! Hope the weather isn't too bad tomorrow because we might try again! Happy weekend everybody! ☺️

When a hack just makes everything better!

Took old boy pony out in all his new reflective gear today with a couple of other from the yard and oh my has it lifted my spirits!! Had a really bad couple of weeks and just getting on him has been so good! It had snowed but was slushy underfoot or melted completely, and he was just so happy...

Hi vis - what do you deem necessary?

Thankyou all so much for your very helpful comments, it seems the more the better is the most popular opinion. I have ordered a yellow exercise sheet, leg bands and rein/bridle bands. I will wear my orange bomber and orange hat band. I got seriously taken the p*** out of at work by...

Hi vis - what do you deem necessary?

I just thought it would blend in to the horse's colour too much, whereas an orange jacket on top of a yellow sheet might be more eye catching than a big (and it would be big) chunk of orange! I'm not particularly bothered about how we look when we're out as long as I have maximum 'HELLO WE...

Hi vis - what do you deem necessary?

Thank you very much everybody, currently scouring eBay and preloved for a (4'6) exercise sheet and leg bands. My current jacket is orange, but don't fancy putting orange hi vis on a chestnut. Going to go for yellow, my hat band is yellow.

Hi vis - what do you deem necessary?

Hello, Long time lurker on the forum and the amount of tips and tricks I've got from you lovely folk is unreal! However I am concerned I'm not visible enough when out hacking. I have recently taken up a loan on a happy hacker which suits me to a T as I lost all but a shred of my...

Suggestions needed re sharing/finding a sharer

I always look on preloved or on local Facebook groups, local tack shop notice boards and riding schools if they'll let you! Good luck with finding someone! I wish I was closer to you or I'd be jumping at the chance!

Probably done to death but full loan help?

This seems to be the main concern doesn't it? Do you think this would be covered by a contract? I don't think I would mind putting the work in for her to then be used appropriately as long as I was thanked for it, as I've never been into showing or competing really.. I don't know...

Probably done to death but full loan help?

Yeah, I missed off insurance. What's the best type to get? I've never been able to understand the differences and what's best for who! I'm not bothered about winter, I do shift work so have to make time for regular things and there's an indoor where we are so its ok riding wise. Thanks...

Probably done to death but full loan help?

Hey, I have recently come across a beautiful little mare who I was originally going to part loan. I've seen her a couple of times and the owner has suggested a full loan which was my original plan, I didn't actually want a part loan. The mare is gorgeous, but quite green, which is fine...
