My horse fractured his pedal bone 12 weeks ago, quite an abnormal fracture as in it didn’t fracture at one of the wing points. He had a mri which luckily showed no ligaments or tendons were affected but the...

Yes will have arthritis but it will be managed with injections the consultants still think the prognosis is good. Yes he hates box rest, but what is 3 months in the grand scheme of things? I'm not ready to pts just yet as we haven't tried all the avenues
Thanks
Hi all,
I am looking to get experiences off those who have been in my position. Please note I have all the advice from the vet and MRI consultant but sometimes it's handy to hear real life stories.

I have an ex racehorse, been out of racing since November but with minimum work/schooling. I've owned him 7 weeks and he is really starting to come on. Lunging is particularly good...
This has probably been done to death but I am in need of a horse name for a chestnut thoroughbred gelding......
He's quite and calm so nothing too laddish or quirky.....
Any ideas........
Just to bump this post up and see if anyone else has any views.
Myself and his owner have decided against the surgery and will be opting for medicating the front and hind this week. I am not sure whether or not this will work, does anyone have any experiences of medicating the collateral...
I've loaned him for nearly 18 months. Variation is due to recovery of operation and then further medicating to see how he takes to it. We have also got to medicate his fore as well.
Thanks
ps if she would prefer surgery that is also fine but I can't have him on box rest and then rehabbing for the next 12-18 months - 1. I don't think he'll cope very well with it and 2. as selfish as it sounds a loaner can only do so much
