Currently my horse is very stiff, and in canter he almost feels sticky and struggles to strike off even around corners. I think this is down to not doing a lot, as he has had a bit of a holiday. He feels unbalanced aswell as I try to bring him in to canter. The equine massager has been out...
Hi,
The person who usually clips my horses this year is not able to do them, and has only just let me down. Sadly I do not have own pair of clippers either.
I have one big 17hh with Cushing's who really needs doing now as I'm planning to hunt him this year and trying to keep him fit with...
I agree, turn out is a big deal!!! Especially if your pony is a typical breed. Also you have to dress appropriately, which you seem to be doing, but it depends on the judge ect. Some mums do go all out, especially the pony club mums! And some times tack and the correct placement of the lead rope...
So i have had my horse for a year now ( I had to buy him because he was so skinny) and after an injury last winter we have done lots of hacking to get his fitness back and for me to suss him out we can start training again. He is ridiculously spooky on hacks and rushes off when galloping...
One of my newest horses who is a project has recently been diagnosed with very mild cushings. I am speaking to the vet tomorrow about medication but would like to know more on cushings. I know it's about and enlarged pituary gland and its symptoms but there's not much about horses who have been...
I was out hacking the other day and my gelding though it would be funny to spin around and go home, I saw nothing that would spook him in to doing that , rather unlikely of him to. Must be something in the air !
My new horse has been off for 3 months as he cut his foot just above the cornet band and was bandaged up and stabled up from October through to December ! He has been out in the feild and I have ridden him down the road and back just at walk.
When he came to me he was very unfit ( I bought...
My feild is not longer a feild due to all this bloody rain and my mad horses galloping around!
This Autumn I had tried to prepare it for winter but nothing stops my feild from turning in to a mud bath. My horses rugs have half the feild on them when I bring them in To there stables ! And so...
I totally agree with WelshD !
I have one for my hunter which stops him getting muddy in his feild (now bog) and he doesn't mind it at all. Defiantly stops him getting mud on his face and around his ears.
Only problem is with the Lycra ones , if you put them on your horse in the feild they do...
Hi,
This horse I have recently bought as a bit of a project is super unfit and has lost all his muscle in his bum (I think its what people call gossrumped) , shoulders, round is withers and neck.
Does anyone know any ways to build this all up correctly?
I would like to show him in the...
I have a pony for my cousin who doesn't eat hay. He will eat the tiniest bit but will prefer to graze ! We have had him for years and he has never eaten much hay and never dropped any weight. If you have had her teeth checked and there is no obvious problems, she could be just a choosey pony!x
so my new horse has a saddle with really big knee rolls , and being long in the leg and liking to ride short my knee comes off the front and it is uncomfortable because of the knee rolls. I was wondering if a saddler would be able to modify them to make them smaller or cut the bottom part off to...
So i would like to buy my new horse some brushing boots for hacking , riding and maybe jumping but not sure what size to buy him ! He is a 16.3 hh thoroughbred / warmblood cross (not Exactaly sure what he has in him , this is what I got told )
What is the best brand to buy and what size boot...
Hi ,
I have done lots of jumping but when I was taught to ride , I was taught to sit up very straight e.c.t which gets me great marks in my dressage but when I jump I tend to not fold at the hip a lot and my lower leg slides back a bit. I am very long in the leg , so have to ride rather long...
