Hmmm... A thought just came to mind. Did you recently try a Western saddle and are you sure you put it on the right way? I think we had a thread on here before with someone making this mistake.
I think it is perfectly normal and some women are more sensitive than others. I guess unless you feel you may lose control and fall off/get hurt I would just 'go with it'

I am not questioning it in a negative sense, I am just genuinely curious. I would give my eye teeth to have any one of those beauties hogged or not. You don't see many of them in Wisconsin.
So just the brood mares keep the hogged manes and partly shaven tails? Is there an actual practical reason for this or is it just some sort of breed standard grooming for the sake of tradition?

I recently learned about why they roach/hog them too. I also noticed one foal had its tail all shaved off. On this site though it looks like many of their older horses are sporting this look too. That and strange shortly cropped tails and forelocks???? I am wondering if they like this look...
