Thanks Caroline, I appreciate your post, Im so unsure of what to do, I don't have a trial period with her so if I think she's not going to settle in I don't want to leave it too long before speaking to the owner again. Its hard to know how long to give them and she really was acting ridiculous...
Thank you for your replies. My main problem is that she was bought as a confidence giver because although I am a fairly experienced rider, but I don't want her to knacker my confidence and they assured me that she would be no problem. The mare always has company in the stable and in the field...
Long story short a woman bred her and owned her all of her life but she has been out on loan several times so has been on different yards and they said she was really laid back and has been to pony camp so assumed she would settle fairly quickly. The woman put her to another yard to be sold as...
Morning All, I bought a new horse last weekend a 16.1hh 13 year old bay mare who has supposedly done it all and was an ideal confidence giver who has been to many shows, pony camp ect.
When I tried her I tacked her up, she was lovely in the stable, great to ride in the school jumped...
Hi, I am looking for some more info about highlands as we have always have finer Thoroughbred type horses and in the future will be looking for something different.
Daft question but do you find the majority to be quite sane and sensible?
I would be looking to show so looking for advice...
Our lot are normally out for the beginning of May, but are going to hold off a couple of weeks and hopefully put them out for summer in the middle of May. Hoping it gives the fields more of a chance to dry up! (well fingers crossed!)
Looking for some advice, I am totally new to showing traditional coloured cobs and I am a bit confused about where gets trimmed and where doesn't :/ and as we have our first show in a couple of weeks time, I would just like to double check, I know that the whiskers stay on, but what about the...
What weight of rugs do everyone have on their horses at the moment, its becoming difficult as they are getting warm during the day but it cools down so much at night and unfortunately they get turned out in the morning and I only get up at night.
Help settle a discussion, in what showing classes are you allowed to wear a tweed show jacket with a coloured browband, and in what classes does it need to be a navy jacket with a coloured browband? I know about hunters wear tweed with plain brow bands.
Thanks in advance.
Looking for the best place to buy trousers for showing our youngster in hand, preferably navy as she has white legs and my hat is navy :)
Also is wearing canary jodhpurs and long boots a big no-no?
Thanks
We have been looking for a while now for a traditional gypsy cob to hopefully show next summer and we cant seem to find anything over 14.2hh, not fussed on age and if its broken or not.
Does anyone know of any dealers or cobs for sale?
Sorry forgot to say preferably in Scotland!
Thanks :)
We are currently in the process of looking for another horse to join our family, we currently have a 16.2hh ex race horse who is mainly used for hacking and another retired pony, however we are looking for something else to join us but aren't in a major rush at the moment. We are still undecided...
Not sure if this will have been asked before but has anyone used Sure Clip Cordless or Wired Clippers before? I know they are a cheaper make so I wouldn't expect them to last forever but they would really only be used twice a year to clip a fine coated thoroughbred. What's your thought on them...
Baileys No.1 is brilliant, we have used it on our thoroughbreds for years and definitely makes them gain wait without the fizziness! We feed it with basic pony nuts and chaff and can see a noticeable difference within two weeks :)
Hi I am very new to this website and I am just looking to see if anyone has any experience or a similar situation to mine. I have owned my full Thoroughbred mare for over two years now and in the last 7 months her personality has completely changed she was not your typical stressy Thoroughbred...
