Hurrah!! They are leaving (sorry, bitofarant)

We did this once too and never again. Lass was a friend of step daughters and was desperate for somewhere to keep her 14.2hh 6yo while he was sold. Pony arrived and then we didn't see her more than once a week for months (usually even less than that). Pony became aggressive as was left for...

Best place to advertise for someone to help to ride

I'd suggest wherever you advertise, pay them (I.e someone who makes a living out of it) and ask for references. I didn't, and now my mare has a torn check ligament, and 6 months off work. Hope you find someone good, be very picky!!!

    WWYD: educate or ditch?

Thank you all for your kind words. I keep walking round the house muttering 'I just can't believe it, stupid bloody woman' , think it's driving my family nuts. In 10 years she's never been lame. I have messaged the woman to tell her what she's done. She hasn't replied, apologised or...

    WWYD: educate or ditch?

Hi all, OK so I spoke with her today and asked how she thought things were going? She said great, horse was really listening to her now. Asked her if she was doing much cantering and she said yes, a bit and described the minute and a half canter. I asked about the half mile canter and she...

    WWYD: educate or ditch?

The "friend" was actually a minor (teenage step child) and felt very uncomfortable about it, but didn't know what to say at the time, being quite shy. They told me as soon as I walked in the door from work. Yes the minor also cantered as couldn't hold their horse back but said they never want...

    WWYD: educate or ditch?

Only found out late last night, been up to turn her out this morning and am *******ING FUMING now. Her off fore proximal sesamoid ligament is swollen and hot, and both her hind fetlocks are filled (but no heat). In the 10 years I've had her she's never been lame. I defo need a few hours...

    WWYD: educate or ditch?

She'd been out to grass essentially for 2 years, pasture ornament isn't far from the truth :( Mostly hacking and a bit of hunting a couple of years ago, was the last time she was fit. Trust me, she was unfit, I know the difference!!! I do wonder if she just genuinely doesn't know the...

    WWYD: educate or ditch?

Thanks guys, that was my feeling too. I can't imagine how hideous that half mile canter must have been for my horse, poor girl. She won't be riding her again.

    WWYD: educate or ditch?

Hi, I recently advertised for someone to exercise my horse for me during the week, in an effort to get her fit and keep her active. She is a 16hh, 17yo, Appaloosa, who I have had for 10 years. I found someone local (who I know a bit) and two weeks ago she started riding her on weekdays while I...

Appropriate attire for leading in showing

Hi, We are planning to do a few shows this year with our sons, who will both be on lead rein. This is low level local stuff but I don't want to let them down by being inappropriately dressed. Any advice on what both I and my husband should where? Many thanks J

Is there a market for second hand horsey stuff?

I think much second hand stuff is sold on Facebook, preloved and eBay - those would be your competition. You would need to offer something that those sites don't, like no quibble returns, try before you buy etc.

    Hello!

Just a quick note to say hi! A little about me... We live in North Devon so will probably be making an appearance on the SouthWest forums. We have 5 horses ranging from 10hh to 16.2hh, all go hunting! I also work in the equine pharmaceutical industry (drugs and vets, although not a vet...
