Hey, it's been a while but figured you guys may know what it's like. We've been registered with all the major dog rehomers and some of the smaller ones and in 6 months, we've not even had a sniff of a dog. When we do see ones on line they are reserved before we've seen them.
We went over to Dogs...
I realised the other day that I've been a bit absent. In fact the last time I was properly on was when I was having problems with getting near Rosie's mouth.
Fast forward a few months and there's been huge progress made. I actually can now take part in the weekend plans thread for the first...
So sorry you've got to face this so soon, I had three years between my last two and I really struggled with that. For me, as I can't afford the injection these days and have had my fair experience through work of it not going well, I prefer the gun. That said in our friend group we all hold each...
A few of you may remember me posting about my new project horse - the lovely Rosie and her mouth problem. Well we've come a long way since then, she's now turning into a very confident young lady and a total joy to train! So thank you to those that kindly commented and gave suggestions. I did...
I do have those options it's coordinating them. She's also needle shy so I need to be there to handle her. She's only seen a vet since I had her and that was for her flu/tet starter which proved traumatic.
Am thinking I might have to suck up a vet dentist to get her going. I just have lost...
That is a good shout, she fine to handle her ears etc and scratch her cheeks etc. I've dealt with loads of issues before but never one so bothered about the mouth being touched.
So I may have bought a horse. Due to budget she's unbroken, total project. This is not a problem - I used to break horses in for a living etc yada yada.
However the well meaning vendor, shaved off Rosie's whiskers, he's a showing person but 🤦♀️
Anyway I think he used a nose twitch to do it and...
As you all liked the last video so much, I thought I'd share another. Tying placenta's was a skilled I had to learn quickly when work with Thoroughbreds and it is super easy once you know how. At the National Stud, we had to do it without string which is whole different level of achievement! But...
Hey @HappyHackerK8 thank you for the comment and questions. I am going to pop up another video on placenta tying over Easter.
So with regards to legs, I'm fairly relaxed but if the second foot is behind the first knee, be aware the elbow might be stuck. An experienced foaling person can solve...
Hi everyone, it's that time of year where I miss my old job. I made this video last year but thought it was worth sharing for those that want some more information on foaling and problems with presentation at birth. Hope you like it.
Going against the grain - Nickel had this done at 8 years old, he went on another 10 years. No problems and I don't regret it at all. He was in so much pain before. He was very shut down. The operation turned him into a happy horse who competed to Medium, training AM, he jumped and hacked like...
