    Breaking Ponies and Bits?

Hi, I am about to break in my two Dartmoor Hill Ponies. Have done a lot of groundwork with them in the past couple of years and they are very willing. I'm hoping they will be ride and drive and was wondering what would be a sensible bit that could cross the two disciplines? On the same...

    Choke

My farmer and new horse owner MIL has a greedy 21 year old horse that keeps getting horrible bouts of Choke - to the point the vet was called twice in one night and PTS was an option (only when my OH and I were looking after the farm - no idea what happens else)... I've told her to take all hard...

    Black Stallion!

Hi, I have posted about this before but have lost my replies... Am looking for a Black homozygous Stallion to put my 15:3hh Blue Roan WBxTB mare to. Looking for pref ID, QH or something with more bone, height and calm outlook! Any ideas gratefully received! Thanks :)

    Mad Canter!

Any advice for schooling exercises to slow down a rushed, unbalanced and panicked canter please? I don't have a school, so anything I can do in the field would be great. Thanks :)

Horse with radial fracture - 6 weeks box rest

Thanks for all your comments :) Cross fingers and toes, so far he is coping well. We are lucky that we can rotate stable mates day and night (not sure how happy they are about it though!), so he always has company. Grooming at night, stable bandages (not sure why but he likes the attention!)...

Horse with radial fracture - 6 weeks box rest

Hi, my beautiful boy has a radial fracture (I've had two horrendous injuries to two horses in the space of two weeks - they've been in their field for years without incident). It occurred from a puncture wound on the inside of his right fore above the knee (and yes there is nothing in the...

CLARE BALDING RUINS IT FOR WOMEN PRESENTERS...

I 'think' I remember a few years back how Claire said she had missed out on an equestrian presenting job to a well known generic sport presenter. I would much rather listen to Claire commentate on equestrian, or every other sport than someone such as Sue Barker. Claire is keen and knowledgeable.

    Paralympic dressage.. spurs?

Does she suffer from convulsions? I don't know, but either way, that was a bloody good horse, and I'm sure there is lots of able riders who by accident give our horses a jab in the mouth, big kick or unnecessary smack without the horse being so forgiving. Her horse looked happy and relaxed so I...

    Paralympic dressage.. spurs?

I think N Baker has some use of her legs as she could stand with sticks for the medal ceremony. I think the impact of the spurs she was using would be minimal as she has so little strength in her legs, but certainly would be legal and more beneficial than just voice or Schooling whip alone.

    Poor horse, weather forecast rant

Mine live out all year 24/7, no rugs. They are animals and can cope so don't worry!!! :)

    JumpCross

North Cornwall, I don't travel far! I haven't ridden hunter trials for a good few years and thought this would be a good way to get 'back in the saddle'. I also have a young horse who is bored showjumping (jump one, plough one), and wondered if this might light his fire??? :)

    English to western....

My friend who is a rancher in the USA came over and rode my horses - her only comment was how comfy the English saddle was! Yes, she rode on a long rein but had perfect control (this is a young lady who rodeos!) and when I go over there, yes, I use more contact than they do, but it's not a...

    JumpCross

Hi, we have a new venue opened near us. I'm going to give it a go, but would be interested to hearing peoples opinions of JumpCross - good or bad? Thanks :)
