The right instructor can make so much difference. Mine is great too, she pushes me every lesson to do my best, even when I'm having an off day, she'll still get the most out of me. Such a great confidence giver, even when she just stands in the school without saying a word my confidence balloons!
Yep, another vote for the Airowear. I use an air jacket more now which is great in the hot weather and gives more freedom, but is three times the price and £18 every time it goes off.
Don't just try one one, make sure the tack shop fit it for you and get you to sit in a saddle too!
My wife is...
All the time, me and the horse.
Used to wear a vest over my back protector, but now wear it under my air jacket, which I guess kind of defeats the object a little, but I don't want to risk impeding the air jacket going off if needed.

Hi all, I wonder if anyone else (particularly male) have experienced this.
I have had my mare less than a year. She's a big girl and can be quite loving and cuddly. We turned them out a couple of hours ago, and an hour later decided to rug them up in case the weather gets bad. I rugged my...
My god it looks like you've taken a photo of my mare!!! Even down to the white (ish) mane and black forelock.
My daughter dresses her up too, over reach boots on ears etc etc
Hi flurry Juno
I was looking at an 8-10 Yo ISH late last year ( ended up buying a powerhouse of a cob), but prices were around £3000-£5000 with all tack etc. some that had winnings etc were more, up to £8000 or so.
However, it's not like buying a car and I think if she is perfect for you and...
Hi all.
My daughter has been riding for a few years and last June we decided she could get her own. I have been telling my wife for a couple of years that she needs a hobby so she took up riding and they share.
Now I've not ridden for 18 years or so but just being around the pony, boxing it...
With my singing she'll definitely be off!!!!
I agree though, I suspect she is sensing my nervousness. Nothing like learning by doing. We'll just keep doing little hacks over and over. One of us will improve, and I suspect that will be me....
Good evening horsey world.
This is my first new thread, so please be kind.
I am new to riding for the second time, having not ridden properly for about 18 years, so re-learning a lot. I have been riding now for about 7-8 weeks.
My daughter and wife ride and we have two horses. The one I ride...
Have the vetting!!!
We have bought our first two horses over the last five months. We have had three vetting's in all. The second horse we have vetted looked good to us, and our instructor, but then failed its vetting, big underlying issue and had to be put down. This was only picked up after...
Fair play.... I love it.
I am trying to crack cantering at the mo, finding it a bit tough. Looking forward to doing a few shows next year, and competing against my 14 year old daughter.
I would recommend it to anyone particularly guys as that is the theme of this thread, whether that is...
Hi mate
Definitely. I am a 38 year old guy and just getting back into riding after about 18-20 year break. I did my first jump ever last week about a foot high and was shaking with adrenaline afterwards. It is great fun, but probably wouldn't be riding and have my own horse again if it wasn't...
