I put whole cabbages and swedes out for my shetlands as a treat, I throw them out in the dry parts of the field and it keeps them occupied for a while.
also put them in the stable whole for my old boy Merlin, as he's on box rest and has a tendency to get bored.
Some time ago someone posted a poem for a person who had to have their horse put to sleep. I can't really remember how it went, something like - "Run with friends forgotton, graze with the sun on your back"
Does this ring any bells with anyone? My friend just lost her horse so I thought it would...
I've got a Bucas turnout which is 500g, it's fantastic. My 30yo gelding wears it, but only when the weather is at its coldest, he's too hot in it otherwise. I think it will depend on your horse, if he's in or out at night. Mine still have their med weight rugs on at the moment and they are warm...
I usually use my blades twice/3 times before sharpening, depending on what size horses and type of clip, but I know of people who don't do this as often.
If your blades aren't sharp enough you'll see lines left in the coat from the teeth of the blades. Can also hurt the horse if the blades drag...
I registered with them a while ago, because they were highly recommended by friends. It cost £75 to register with them, but this amount comes off your first bill. Only used them for vacs so far but I'm pleased so far.
I think it depends on the individual horse, and they're workload. My horse is 30 now, and sometimes he still feels like a 5 year old to ride!
It's been about 7 years since he did any jumping because he started to show a definate lack of enthusiasm towards it, which was previously not like him...
Does anyone know about this?
My oldie has quite bad dandruff, he has cushing's disease and i've read that dandruff is one of the effects of it. He was clipped untill this summer but this did not seem to help. Have tried washing him with medicated shampoo for horses, and rinsed him very...
My experience of working with horses is a little negative, sorry! Albeit 14 years ago now, things may have changed by now!
I worked in a riding school, on a training sceme called skillseekers. I worked towards NVQ's and BHS exams, was paid £50 per wk, and still had to pay them livery on top of...
I use a Tempur memory foam bed. I had surgery on my back 4 years ago for ruptured discs and trapped nerves in my legs. I have used this bed since then and have found it to really help.
If I stay away from home and use a different bed, I get a lot of aches and pains in the morning. I would never...
I've just done a worm count on my horses because I moved to a new field, and got 2 new ponies. I wasn't sure what their worm programme was before I got them so thought it would be a good idea. I used a company called Intelligent Worming, they design a worming programme for you as well. Haven't...

This is true. People work their whole life towards competing for their country at the olympics, so I don't imagine KP will be fullfilling her aim anytime soon no matter how much money she has.
Its probably all just for her publicity anyway.

i loved my treeless, i was so sad to have to let it go
had it a couple of years and paid a fair amount for it
unfortunately where my mare has changed from being barrel like to high withered (due to her aging) it did not suit her shape any more
if there is a design out there of one that...
