    Own Yard - top tips?

dont set anything in stone the first winter summer as you'll change what you want or need as you get to know the land and how you use it (wet areas/ where the wind usually comes from, ditches, fencing etc etc)

    Buying house with land

I have a mortgage with Santander, it's less than 3 years since I bought it and no acre issues. I also have a water metre, the bill is less than £20 a month (Maybe we wash the horses more than ourselves :D no drainage rates though as we're on a septic tank) I do sometimes spend more time sorting...

inhaler spacer, there must another way?

Hi Jo, yes! I taped it together, squirted into it away from her face and also found putting it near her ears and running it slowly down her face to her nose worked. It became very easy, the spacers have a one way valve so you can spray it into the spacer and then put over nose.

    Insurance for a foal

I got quotes from many well known insurers for a youngster and petplan was the best! £18 a month where as NFU and KBIS we’re still in the £30 zone even though non ridden youngster. Have you asked petplan?

    Eye infection & off feed....

When my mare developed uveitis it was very painful and effected her eating. You couldn’t really tell and only a vet could diagnose it. I just knew she was off and not herself.

    Can cats eat dog food?

Thanks, I’m presuming he’s ok because of the second helpings he gets (he leaves after breakfast and goes next door for seconds and then waits for seconds at tea time as well!) I will go and get some cat food and add that in!

    Can cats eat dog food?

oh dear, my cat prefers Millies Wolfheart to cat food and mostly has that! he goes to my neighbour for seconds though so maybe he gets his taurine from that. Though its a good quality food how would we know if it has it in?

Consistently refusing jumps... time to call vet??

I had a lameness work up on daughters pony because she was refusing jumps. We’d been at a rally with lots of experienced people. No one thought she was lame. Turns out she was lame in all 4 legs! She came right, I’m glad we took her in x

Washing horsey things in your home washing machine!

everything goes in mine, I just do an empty short wash after dog beds or hairy stuff. It blocked once, we all blamed the horses dogs, cleaned it out and it was hair grips and the underwire from a bra!!! so the horses and dogs are off the hook and i've carried on :D

Insrance for my ATV and paddock machinery

I could only ever get it with road use. Frustrating but I didn’t find another way. Not sure where you’d stand if someone stole your UTV and crashed it on the road?
