Thank you, this is all really helpful. Although he is cushings, he does not seem to be especially prone to laminitis - strange I know, but in the two years we have had him I have gone from being extremely vigilant to fairly relaxed about it as he has even been in lush dairy pasture with no ill...
My lovely oldie has lost a lot of weight since Christmas, he has cushings and vet has increased prascend. He is not a big hay eater (teeth been done recently but are pretty poor, he has never loved hay in the two years we have had him.) He is currently in, as his field is so muddy, there is...
Thanks all, hugely informative!
I spoke to local farmer, who also happens to be parish councillor, who also happens to be rather good at putting down hardcore....
He said it is a small area (30ft by 30 ft) and that in all his years as a parish councillor he has never known anyone be fined for...

Brilliant about the sunflower seeds - I can borrow my neighbours sheep - how many do you have and are they in with the ponies?
Are there any problems with this? Wondering what would happen to my field shelter etc!
We had v v low worm counts recently, so not too worried about that, but do...
What is the smallest amount of land to ponies where it becomes less important to pooh pick? I do, but would love to give up over the winter! I have two small ponies on two acres, so presumed pooh picking was essential.
This was exactly my thinking, but it is so wet and muddy that I am finding them lying down in the shelter a lot more than usual and I want to spoil them! Have got rubber matting and put wood pellets down today because hopefully if I keep picking out the worst mess it won't get smelly?
