Thankyou lar that’s very interesting because the farrier, who is first class thought he had a abscess behind, 2 days later he was very bad with laminitis. Only had pads in front then 😀
Thank you all for your replies, so lovely to hear of the recoveries. Mine had pads in all round and only mild rotation. He is 17 so happy to retire if needed but he is so well in himself, bossing around his feild mate we thought we would ask the vet. He was lame for three months, sound for two...
How long after your horse was sound after laminitis did you ride them. We are going to speak to the vet on Monday but just wondered if anyone had experience, thanks
Thank you that mirrors my thinking, my vet is not advocating movement, my boy has been in the stable for over three weeks, luckily big stable and rubber matts x
Thank you so much for your reply, the dengie is the one the vet wrote down but I will order the molasses free one. He was already one the Baileys lo cal for laminitis. It is minefield I will ring the vet re getting tests done ASAP x
Thanks, will get him sorted once he Is sound, daft thing is we have been so careful the last 18 months because he was older, have kept his weight down fed everything suitable for a laminitic. He has been seen by vets for injections, I always ask what they think not one has said he was too fat
