But could also mean something is wrong with the horse if its so bad on one rein. By stating something which implies you as seller can't ride may get you a sale?
I would use a bit of common sense and get your mechanic to do a full check if you find one you like. My mechanic told us to walk away from two (one had major fault and the other falsified service invoices and a major fault). The last one we bought he found a long list of stuff but said if the...
I'd ask your friends not to watch as you feel anxious - I would hate to be watched under those circumstances.
It's one of the horrors of buying a horse although one horse I tried, they rode it first, got me on and said we'll leave you to it - my friend was with me and we were both stunned. I...
In the days of hock boots, I managed to do one buckle up to the other boot and then my horse tried to move.....he never forgave me and whenever I put anything on his hinds he waggled each leg to make sure I hadn't tied his legs together again
I feed a balancer (Thunderbrooks) because my horses don't get other feed. How you tell its 'working'? I have no idea unless you have before and after blood tests. If you feed other 'stuff' you may not need it - or at least not at the recommended volumes
I know nothing about ex-race horses. If the foot soldier was actually leading her (with you on top) it may help. When I had the problem I put a training halter under my bridle so my walker led of that and it didn't effect my contact. Admittedly my horse has never tried to rear but he can do a...
My 5 yr WB had a constricted hind annular ligament - apparently unusual for a WB. They couldn't tell me exactly what was wrong as scans/xray were inconclusive but recommended key hole surgery which reveal the problem and it was cut. 9 months on he is doing fine but I don't know how much work his...
I found an ordinary wintec girth as long as possible stopped any rubbing. It is done up to about 1" under saddle flaps both sides. A shorter girth rubbed - so the short girth straps may not be an issue
You did the right thing. If he was scared with you on foot it sounds like it was dangerous to keep pushing from on board. Did you stay on foot because he was upset or you can't get back on (I have same problem)
