ive recently just had back shoes put on my mare as she was getting a bit foot sore, the reason she didnt have them on before as she brushed her other foot which left a scar before i bought her and now she started doing it again on the other leg but she keeps knocking the same cut which is not...
my mare is staring to get scabby back legs it could be the beginning of mud fever but it might not be. are there any good lotions i could try to solve this problem. i have been washing them with hibi scrub as well.
after finding my mare in the field hardly putting weight on her hind leg vet came out told me it was a sprain therefore kept her in for a week and a half and the first day of being out, she been kicked again. luckily she isnty lame but her leg is swollen! not sure if its best to keep bandages...
could the fact we went over a few jumps on sunday have anything to do with it since we havn't actually jumped for a while? is there a chance it could of pulled something?? as it came on, on monday? x
she is puttin a small amount of weight on but it seems to hurt too much to carry on doing it so sometimes swaps legs for a small amount of time. would the farrier be any good in this case?

i had this same problem last summer. my mare had a tiny cut which i didnt notice. when i eventually found it i cleaned it and bandage the leg so it stopped the infection rising upwards. this made all the infection drain out of the cut. when down in no time.
