Thanks everyone for their input. As I said before I am almost certainly going to neuter my new dog once she is old enough. She will never be having puppies as she is a crossbreed and an odd one at that, a greyhound x Jack russell if you can believe it. Herself a result of accidental breeding...
Thanks everyone for your input, I've done a lot of research in the last couple of days and certainly there are risks involved that I wasn't previously aware of, but i think the benefits of a neutered female dog far outweighs the negative for me.
Ill certainly be waiting till dog reaches full...
Getting a new puppy at the end of this week.
Its been a long time since I've had a puppy as my two jack Russell's both passed away in their sleep at the age of 15 over the summer.
It was always instilled in me that the responsible choice was to always neuter your dog once there fully matured...
Thanks all for responses, will seriously be looking into some permanent fencing, my only worry is our ground is so rocky will be hard to put up a real good fence !
Had a nasty scare today,
my three horses were grazing in a field behind our house, this field is secured with electric fence in the usual way (white tape wooden poles), unbeknownst to me while i was at work at about 2pm there was a power outage in my area. My fence is connected to the mains ...
Sounds like you've a great horse OP! I myself have always been more interested in a horses manners and sensibility rather than there talent or athleticism.
I may not win as many rosettes at shows but at least i know i can always depend on her and enjoy myself rather than stress.
Thanks everyone for responses!!
how long do you need for a running plait I've always been under the impression you needed like quite a bit of long mane for that
and currently we have about 5 inch length so i do not think that's gonna work for us.
Also for the bit of showing we do, she...
So, i have a mare who is an ID who is not quite chunky enough to look good with a hogged mane, but has enough mane to do two maybe three horses, it is VERY thick.
I do dressage and a little showing so she needs to have a plaited mane and with the current thickness it does not look good plaited...
I am looking to improve my mares contact.
currently she likes to be above the bit. not hold her head stuck in the air or anything but not where it should be, and at times we can do some consistent work.
Shes good in walk and trot, canter is where we tend to lose it, she can set against my...
He Looks fine to me ! just maybe a little loss of muscle but his current weight looks fine!
i think our perceptions of what an ideal horses weight is changing when we see so many overweight horses winning rosettes.
Of course different horses carry their weight in different parts of their body
Anyone any experience with the Emmett technique?
local riding club is running a short course and considering signing up, but cant seem to find too much about it online.
Anyone have any opinions about it, good or bad.
thanks !!
My faithful old mare is reaching the stage of her life where i think its time to decrease her workload.
which leaves me in the exciting position of looking for a new horse. this time i would really like to take on a younger horse and work with it . Every other horse ive owned has been...
