    Clipper blade sharpening in Newbury/Thatcham area . . .

Fab! Thanks Jenni999. How much do they usually charge per blad? I can't see anything on their site to give an idea of costs.

    Clipper blade sharpening in Newbury/Thatcham area . . .

Can anyone recommend a good company in the Newbury/Thacham area which i can send my clipper blades to to have them sharpened. They're fine at the moment but would like to get them sharpened for next year and would prefer to go somewhere recommended :) Thanks x

View before you buy . . . or so I thought.

    That's a bit creepy . . .

It's horrible to think that there must be some people out there who fall for this type of thing, otherwise they wouldn't keep trying it.

To be honest, I wasn't tempted at all just very very suspicious. I was totally thrown when they asked me for my paypal details, that was when the warning lights started to flash. There is no way I would sell my horse to someone without first talking with them on the phone and finding out what...

I had the strangest email exchange yesterday and wanted to get your thoughts on it. Basically I have put my boy up for sale. I had an email from someone asking if he was still for sale to which I replied he was. The person then said that if I could ensure them that 'it' (my horse) was in good...

I'm I odd? Do ppl not do their own horses anymore?

I agree! It has taken me the 4 years I have had my current horse to find somewhere which does DIY with a decent school and with nice people. If you add all the other years I have had horses though then it has really taken me a lifetime! Livery yard shopping is definately not fun :(

    Lumps and bumps.

That had crossed my mind but he's never had anything as bad as this before and they're only on his legs, nose and now some have appeared on his chest this morning.

    Lumps and bumps.

I bought my horse in from the field the other day to find he had loads of little lumps on his legs and some on his nose, a bit like hives. Another horse which moved to the yard last weekend has also come up in the same lumps on his legs and nose although both horses are in seperate paddocks...

    This poor horse

We had a horse at my old yard which was recovering from grass sickness and he looked very similar to this. The owners were really careful about which paddock they put him so he wasn't in full view of any passers by in case they thought he was being neglected. Whether this horse is actually...

    Catching 'the bug' . . .

I have been fortunate enough to have been around horses pretty much all of my life so i sometimes forget that some people have never even touched a horse before. This is certainly true of my OH whos experience of being around horses was driving past fields with them in. This has now all...

Clipping advice again from you cliperts

I agree, once you whip it off you can't put it back on again and having a 'naked' horse really does make the winter seem that much longer :( If you want to get him used to the mains clippers i would recommend just plugging them in and switching them on so he can get used to the noise...

    Horselyx?

My lad has both the Himalayan salt, which is in his stable and the garlic horselyx which he only gets occationally as a treat due to the high sugar content, but he loves both. I can't leave him with the horselyx unattended though because it would be gone in a day as he bites chunks out of it. I...

    Coughing?

It might be a reaction to dust in the stable and hay. What type of bedding have you got her on? My lad will start coughing at the slightest hint of dust and sounds like he smokes 40 a day :o I soak his hay overnight (out in the field at night and in the stable during the day) and i also...
