    Recycling old electric fence posts

I just cut them up with a saw and put them in the bin.

Sequel to "Why is it so hard to find a nice yard".

You need to arrange someone to remove your poos so you need to site your muck heap well away from the boundary of any fields so that it is easy to pick up and none gets anywhere near the boundary. You should also arrange to have your field harrowed and rolled in the Spring of each year and...

This company has a particularly poor reputation when it comes to issues with its trailers and horse boxes.

    Off road hacking

A far better solution is to create permanent public rights of way of bridleway or restricted byway status so that riders of the future will have permanent off road routes to ride on.

    Awful hack on new horse

I think that the seller has been dishonest. If a horse is advertised as laid, back bomb proof and spook proof and can be ridden by anyone then you should be able to get on in the heaviest of traffic on a loose rein and plod it about without it reacting. You have been done and the advert is a...

Too old for a young horse?

I bought a 5 year old for my 60 birthday present to myself. I still enjoy riding him 7 years later. Have also bought another one two year ago but he was 9 years old.

What would be a fair rent to pay for 4 horses on 4.5 acres of grazing with a water supply and water troughs, good fencing (wooden post and rail), muck heap regularly taken away off site and the fields maintained (hedges trimmed, fields harrowed and rolled and fencing repaired)? Situated 30...

Getting water to grazing with no supply...

You could get a large towable water butt and fill it up whenever needed and then connect it to plastic water trough with a ball cock valve so that it keeps it full. Alternatively you could put a water supply in as putting the plastic piping in is quick and easy if you mole drill it in with a...

Building an arena straight onto grass - experiences

I know of no arenas that have been successfully built in this manner and lasted for any period of time. Arenas need to be drained properly otherwise the surface becomes saturated with water (rain water and ground water) and then the surface becomes destroyed.

    Horseboxes 3.5 / 3.9 tons

There are a lot of chancers building 3.5 ton lorries so take care you get one built by a reputable builder such as Marlborough, Boss, Bloomfield or Oakley.

    Rearing when hacking out alone

I would initially ride him out with another well behaved horse and try to ride out each and every day to get him in to a happy daily routine again. Then after 4 weeks of doing this take him out by himself and hopefully he will settle down.
