Hunting is in a spot of bother

Channel 4 were sent the footage referenced - it's not clear what the original sources are, or the dates and veracity of the footage. It may all be new, checked and legally submissable of course.

    Soggy Sunday New Pony Day

Some very nice lines in there: Horeb, Thorneyside, Brynithon & Pennal all quite old fashioned in a good way. All of those studs have produced lovely stock. Henna should be able to offer a sparkling ride with just the right amount of Welshness 🤣🤩🚀 She's very smart! Congratulations & wishing you...

    CDJ withdrawn from paris

I'm so out of touch with dressage...I totally stopped engaging after the initial CDJ abuse but this just looks awful - wobbly, overbent horse generally but the trot in particular is grim. Legs snapping up then wobbling around a bit before 'landing'. It is a caricature. This horse doesn't, to me...

    Neurodivergence and horses..

I 'think' , very tentatively this is related to the way emotional stuff and our emotional regulatory system often doesn't line up with our cognitive system so emotions override thinking. My experience is that for many ADHD folks this is one of the most difficult and frustrating experiences. For...

    Neurodivergence and horses..

Horses can help with emotional self regulation as well as some aspects of physical regulation (breathing, sensory calming). The difficulties of regulation are probably the most common factor across current identified neurodiversities and often cause the greatest pain. I think, given the...

Are there any anti hunting people who

Hunters, dressage riders, showjumpers, eventers, endurance riders, happy hackers...all can be abusive, ignorant and cruel. I have seen dire horsemanship in all of the disciplines. Hunting is at least not competitive and a sound, proven hunter is a very valuable horse. At the very least that is...

What saddles do you all use and do you all love or hate them?!

I have a Harry Dabbs Avant M2M which is lovely but hasn't actually been the most robust and I have a saddle company M2M which is not as nice as the Harry Dabbs but basically does the job...it doesn't put me in the same, optimum position as the HD and that is frustrating but it is a bit more...

    Contact Query

Yes, core strength and control massively helps as does being able to maintain soft, elastic elbows in the right position - that can makes hands much more neutral/carrying of the contact rather than being twitchy which is what can happen if it is only the hands that are directing contact, flexion...

    Contact Query

I suspect...but don't know, that ideally you/we would always work to create the balanced, responsive horse that contact no.1 supports, before jump training and only develop jumping when the no 1 contact is consistent over poles, small obstacles etc. The strength, balance and confidence of the...

Mainly day dreaming but does anyone breed these any more?

He's a fab horse. Pearl Island Arabians are worth looking at too - wonderful working, sporting pure Bahraini Arabs and a lovely stud to deal with.

    Animal welfare bill

I don't think there is any ethical way to acquire fox urine and the CA are bonkers to perpetuate the fox urine narrative. I don't know any hunt using this though huntsman's urine is used as is shot fox marinade.

    Animal welfare bill

In animal welfare terms, acquiring fox urine should be illegal in the UK: it is an appallingly cruel 'trade'. It is, I understand, mostly acquired as a cat deterrent by keen gardeners.

    Pro hunting lobby spending spree

Quite! 🤣 I've had a lovely day's trail hunting today. A children's meet with many small, quite excited ponies having a perfectly safe and fun day on the open hill. We saw 3 hares which were completely ignored by hounds (but not by dog walker's dogs) and local livestock including our own in-lamb...
