    The Sheriffs Ride - Lichfield

I loved watching this... Used to live in Lichfield and it brings back happy memories of my first horse xx

Friesians peoples experiences of the breed please thank you :)

Only met one and heard horror stories about others. The one I knew was bolshy, piggy eyed, could kick like a mule and was bone idle... but apparently he is now doing well under a better jockey!

    Anyone else too soft?(stupid!)

Why can't I just shut the curtains and ignore them.... I do feel like I'm being stalked, every time I leave the house I feel 'eyes watching' Lots of mucking out to do tomorrow, hope the weather improves!!

    Anyone else too soft?(stupid!)

I am horse sitting so had to bring all nine in tonight.... They were all by the gate wailing at me! I know it's not cold but I wouldn't like to be out there all night?

    Grazing muzzle rubbing

My miniature is in a grazing muzzle, he was hopping lame when I returned from holiday... So back on with the mask... He is really greedy and his mum doesn't need to wear one even though the grazing is good. He has rubbed his chin but it isn't sensitive to the touch and I think if I put too much...

How are your horses coping with the flies?!

OMG the horse flies, or otherwise known as 'gadders' in Lincolnshire can bite me in thick jodhpurs and jeans! They hate me and my Connie, they also seem to hate my youngster... Why don't they bite my miniatures? I am really allergic so don't expect my Connie to behave in a reasonable manner when...

gutted - laminitis and a warning

Hello Fides, Love and expert opinion... All my horses are now sound... My vet agreed my course of action. Back in the day things were very different... No mobile phones, Sky or Wifi... Does it mean the horses were more healthy? xxx

gutted - laminitis and a warning

Had a massive problem to with lower leg swelling... Thought it was lymphangitus but was an allergy to Biotin. Have 2 shetlands with Lammi issues... (only in the very wet weather!) Have box rested all and given limited forage together with 'safe and sound' with Lamineze. All looking sound...

    Shetland pony troubles

It's always difficult with a 'new' horse, you need to have a very structured and understood timetable. Politely suggest you are working to a system to help the horse relax and understand what is expected? Better you ride him than a small child is injured... I have miniature shetlands and after...

Brief, infrequent hobbling... then trying to bog off?

Just spent £200 on rubbish advice. I box rested him and pointed out that the stifle was the problem! Told he was sound and then to carry on with what I was doing as it was working? Got a lami shetland (only happens after heaving rain), box rest and restricted grazing.... Should I get the vet out?

Why didn't i know this existed until now?! For hacking people

I am on a farm in the Lincolnshire Wolds, we have a bridleway running through the valley, although most riders use a non-public HGV track! My husband loves having horses through the valley, although some adjacent farmers don't(although they have Bridleways through their land). Please let me...

You know you spend too much time with the horses when...

When you ask for 'canter' in the car to overtake. If someone asks for a sweet you feed it from a flat hand directly into their mouth. If your little one is lagging behind, you give a sharp click and say 'trot on!'

    Feeling sorry for myself...

Try having a little person... Horse sound but no chance to ride? The frustration of all the work and none of the fun... On a serious note, good luck with getting them both sound. Mine probably is because he has the easiest life of luxury, food, clean stable and no exercise? xx

Sending a young horse away for schooling. Advice please :)

Another old bird... Have just got a youngster who is growing like a weed... 16hh and only two and a bit! My last horse was just started 4 and a 1/2 years old, lazy but spooky... My bestest livery mate got a two year old, did all the lunging etc. and got a lithe young thing to back him at home...

Went for a ride today (was a bit eventful)

Lovely story, I am trying to get my 'big brave' hacking pants on! My boy is brave with spooky objects and scared to death of nothing.... My ambition of the year is to hack him alone. Thanks for some inspiration, will try and be less fair weather xx
