What Livery is available near Crewkerne?

Thank you, Butterbear. I had a quick Google but I think the one you mean might be holiday cottages now? Anywhere within a 15-20 minute drive of Crewkerne might be considered, too? Sadly, several that Google lists have closed down, it seems.

What Livery is available near Crewkerne?

Hi there, I'm trying to find livery for a 16.2hh gelding near Crewkerne, or in surrounding area. Minimum would be field and stable type DIY, up to assisted/part livery, so fairly flexible. I'd prefer quieter hacking area, and access to arena or one local that could be used. I'm also happy to...

Anybody know anything about the development of the body protector pre year 2000?

I still have one that's around 20-25 years old, if that's any help? It was considered the professional gold standard in its day as it was a stretchy, zipped design with built-in small shoulder pads and did not have the dreaded nappy strap!

Anyone who uses 'branded' haylage - Horsehage, Silvermoor etc Please help!

Another "thumbs up" for Devon Haylage from me, and the horses. Mine eat their products really well, after refusing to eat the Silvermoor product. Currectly using both the Timothy, and High Fibre Ryegrass, products from Devon Haylage, as horse and pony both love it.

    Rowan Barbary Mashes

Just started using their Solution Mash for a very picky Tb with metabolic issues - and he loves it !! Smells lovely, and he doesn't seem to notice his additives in it, so it's a big thumbs up, so far.

    BATES saddles

I like them because my Tb is significantly croup-high and I can make adjustments within the newer panels to assist in balancing his saddles. B-)

can you remove a lose shoe?

Yes. Nowadays I just undo the Velcro on the gaiter and slip the hoof-boot off, if we've bothered using one. Far less hassle, LOL

High withered TB - rug recommendations

If you need to "lower" the chest strap pressure height as a quick fix to prevent downward drag on withers, cross the two straps and fasten as an X shape. Alternatively, removing the upper chest strap and re-attaching it lower down can work well. Best makes I've had for Tbs include Rambo (Wug...

Mechanically lame horses - have you got one?

I had one that was classed as mechanically unsound: we did endurance riding for some years with the EHPS and he was always the same at final vet inspection as at pre-ride one, and One of the most consistent horses I've had.

    Bates Saddles for TBs

I have Bates saddles for my Tb's and they're very useful as the rehabs out of racing change shape so much in the first couple of years re-training. Plus for my very croup-high gelding the panel shim inserts help level the saddle.

Would you buy a horse with sarcoids?

Yes. If the horse fitted my other criteria, I'd buy it. I'd accept the risk of possible problems, on the grounds that every horse could potentially develop sarcoids at any time. My horses are usually other people's rejects...and they still do me proud, regardless of any lumps and bumps :-)

    Freezemarking: Shoulder/Back/Neck ??

I recently had my new horse freeze-marked using Farmkey, and was chatting to the operative about locations of brand. The operative told me that it is no longer recommended to have the horse's neck or crest branded, as too many horses have had skin break down due to resultant scar tissue...
