Just take it easy, speed isn't the key.
Start off small, so just trot up to it. Make sure you keep the horse between the hand and leg.
If this doesn't work, walk up to a small fence, within a few strides up to the fence when the horse has hopefully locked on, kick on.
Don't give them time to...
My first pony ive had for 7 yrs, got him when I was 13.
He is a 14hh Dales Pony he was 4 when I got him, probably too young for me at the time! Napped with me when I tested him out, great start. When we collected him, I put the headcollar on him and he ripped the hair bobble out of my hair...
Love, love, love, love them! =D
I have a 11 yr old Dales, had him since I was 13 and he was 4. A pony of a life time, he will happily hack out and jump 1.20m BSJA courses! Brave and reliable, never been lame.
I would 100% have a Dales Pony again.
Hey,
Im really really struggling to find a mobile saddle fitter who is willing to travel to mid west Wales. Anyone know any?
They have to be mobile as I have no transport, also they have to sell second hand saddles as I don't have the money to buy a brand new saddle.
Cheers!
Hi, ive been asked by a friend to go do a BE90 with her on a day ticket in the summer and I was wondering if I (19) was able to compete a 14hh pony in the same class as her on a 16.2hh horse. Or will I have to do a separate class on a pony. Or can I even compete him?
Thank you.
Im very interested in this topic as I have a rising 4yr old Andalusian X Welsh Cob. She is lovely chilled back sort. Which is good for me since she is my first youngster. Do you reckon this mix could make a good jumper? As I have seen a lot of very good welsh cob jumpers?
She is a bit podgy as...
I always thought jumping in a standard martingale was a fairly universal no no and to use a running one. But I was being nosey and stumbled across some comp pictures for an American show. I think it was an equitation class or something which involved jumping. From the pictures of the competitors...
These stories do me giggle.
I too have a nosey biddy body down the road. She frequently stops me to complain about my horses and other liveries horses in the top field which her house over looks.
The best she came up with was ranting at me about my horse having a rug on in the middle of...
Backing my very first youngster, and having such a fun time doing it.
Grinning like a mad man when I first trotted her, and grinning even more when we had a few strides of canter and not a single buck or spook.
Maybe the fun time are to come :S
I do History at the moment and only actually have 8 hours tops contact time. So plenty of spare time. I too only lived 50min from Uni so I went home on a fri and came back on mon so had a good weekend with the horse. But I didnt put her on loan as I worked out a deal with my lovely yard owner...
