Courses are built as per schedule... Not oversize but no small either. There is a slight gradient in the ring so be prepared to jump a little uphill ad downdale:-)
September is going to be my one Hickstead this year too. Whilst Ring 2 Is lovely, we jumped in Ring 5 for one of the qualifiers last year and that is nice too. I'd say better than rings 3 or 4 although the new surfaced 4 should be good too. The other option is to push on a bit and jump the...
I've pretty much had the winter off jumping. Brought him back a couple of weeks ago to get the final BN Dc before the ed of April. First outing was Felbridge where we had painful fall a year ago and hadn't been back to since. Survived that experience but no Dc. Went to Royal Leisure the next...
Very impressive for a first Foxhunter :-) Nice rhythm and quietly ridden. Shows how long it is since I've jumped anything like that though.... I thought it looked pretty strong :O You going to Hickstead the year?
Just a thought, but have you tried contacting her mother who I'm sure would either put you in touch directly if she thought it appropriate or take your contact details and pass them on?

They have both indoors and outdoors although I believe yesterday was the last indoor of the season. Indoors has a nice big indoor warmup with Andrews Bowen pro wax surface. Main indoor arena is the same surface so light and airy although arena shape is slightly long and narrow. Jumps good old...
That's only at the September Show where the classes are mainly opens and first prize is usually £100 even in the 1m classes.
At the Derby and RIHS Shows the entries are cheaper....more like £15 per class but the prize money is only £50 in the 1m for example.
There are always huge entries...
My boy is a Holsteiner....Cash x Cor de la Bryere. He is big bold and brave with a huuuge amount of jump. He is also the sweetest, gentlest most genuine horse I have ever had. I wouldn't consider myself a novice....I've been riding for 39 years....but I am definitely and amateur. He can stay in...
The Hickstead Derby has been sponsored by people on the 'inside' for years as has much of the equestrian sports. Carpetright and DFS (Lord's Harris and Kirkham) fund the sport to the tune of millions ££££'s every year through their companies, trust funds and the like. It was in no small part...
Very sad for all concerned.
He was a great horse with great talent and could have been even better if he'd stayed in this country.
Does anyone know how he ended up in a p/ex deal after the Olympics....seems very strange.
Personally I wouldn't pay £150 to get there. I'm not saying it's a bad venue, but everything everyone has said above is true. The surface is okay but not amazing. The warm up is big and covered, the car park horrible. It's the closest venue to the Billy Stud though so they will take loads and...
Yes, that was me....25 years ago :-O
And yes, there was a bar upstairs. In some of the links above you can see some still shots of it...optics and all still there.
