I believe that's the idea, for the stifles at least. Vet wasn't sure how much we could do for spine but it had limited uptake compared to other areas apparently. The idea for spine would be muscle building to support around the spine and hope that does the trick.
Hello! Back again with the same pony, same issues. I've put a couple posts up last year about my Welsh in hopes people had shared experiences. First we had ulcers diagnosed and treated which were almost completely gone (smallest amount of slight reddening still at pylorus) when we were okayed to...
Thank you! Hes never shown any symptoms while hacking, just when in the school (I'm not going to say 'when schooling' as he was reacting within the 5 minute warmup without any real work!). I'm hoping with correct rehab plan to build up muscles we can return to a bit of hacking at least as he...
Thank you, will go up in increments of 2 I think? Fingers crossed no issues.
Had our first proper hack attempt today on vets advice to start bringing back to work after long reining a couple weeks. Did a great little 1 mile loop we have that goes down the road, up between two crop fields on a...
Sadly we can't move yards as nowhere else around here we could go. Only other places available do individual turnout where he would be left alone when others took theirs in just the same. We've got him in a different paddock now where he has company over fences and seems much happier. One of the...
I do find it odd that the vets seem against trying misoprostal when there does seem to be many positive results with it. Will see what they're saying on Monday about it but I'm happy to try it if I can still get it cheap at the local pharmacy like I did with my last horse.
He's on protexin gut...
Feeling hopeless and defeated. Pony has been rescoped again, glandular ulcers still there and some reddening on the squamous region again that wasn't there last time. Insurance money is very close to gone. Vet is a little stumped as she was confident we'd rescope and find nothing today. These...
Hi, just wondering about the sea buckthorn. I've just bought a bottle from thunderbrooks and realised I have no idea what to expect so don't know if it's 'good' if that makes sense! What colour/smell is normal for it? It's a bright orange (which I believe is normal) and has quite a smell to it...
Thank you. I have seen numerous people saying omeprazole isn't useful for the glandular ulcers so have been panicking a bit. But found actual papers last night that say with injectable omeprazole they do get good results. Fingers crossed it does the trick.
He's never appeared lame thankfully...
We believe the cause to be stress, he's had a rough time in the year before coming to me and was very reactive and stressed out. Only had him about 7 months before we looked into ulcers due to his behaviour and past. Serious separation anxiety issues, to the point that in the home before me he...
Hiya, my welshie has just been rescoped after 4 weeks of injectable omeprazole (7 days apart) and sucralfate powder in his feed (9g twice daily). He had grade 2 squamous ulcers and mild hyperaemic areas in the glandular region on his original scope. This time his squamous region is totally clear...
Thank you! Was waiting for call back from vet when this was posted, have just got off the phone with her and she's saying not to worry too much, many horses just get a bit of muscular discomfort when on the injections so to try him with just in hand walking and see how he goes! I'm probably...
My Welsh D is currently undergoing treatment for ulcers. The only sign of ulcers that we had was an unwillingness to work in the school. Up until his scoping we were still happily hacking out up to 9 miles a hack, walk trot and canter, no issues whatsoever there. He was scoped on the 9th and got...
